Too bad this isn't an update to Swingworm, which has pretty much identical game play. Did it really have to be a separate app?

There are several notable differences to Swingworm. First, you can die in Ironworm. Also there are a lot of enemies, and they will try to kill you in various ways including shooting at you and exploding. In addition the theme and atmosphere are very different. We felt that Ironworm would look really out of place as an update to a more casual game like Swingworm.

During the development of Swingworm we came up with a bunch of more hardcore game play ideas for the worm-world and we wanted to use them somewhere. In the end that lead to the birth of Ironworm

Despite the difficulty change and the enemies this sounds like a case of "Heavy Metal Edition" (Robot Unicorn Attack Heavy Metal Edition that is).

Normally I'd just be like "ehhhh...should've been included with Swingworm", but nah...10tons is totally right in making it a completely separate app. Like they said, it would look totally out of place and honestly, the theme would probably hurt Swingworm overall. We still live in a world that considers these immortal words blasphemous: "GHOULS! ATTACK THE CHURCH. CRUSH! THE HOLY PRIEST!"

That being said...me being me...totally right up my alley. Love it.

Pontifications on the virtues and acceptance of death metal in modern society aside though, if I thought Swingworm was strictly "meh," is there any reason for me to take a look at this one?

Not really, no. This is basically like an amped up version of Swingworm that's more reliant on the "action" side of things, (this one isn't a "puzzler") and you do feel like you're under pressure at certain points. If you didn't like the whole swinging mechanic in Swingworm though, this really isn't going to change your mind.

Don't have Swingworm, but looks like something I'd enjoy. And this, well, it's cheaper so think I'll give it a shot.

Cheers, that's what I figured.
