The new project, called Fibble Flick ‘n’ Roll, is a physics-based puzzle title that is due for a Spring 2012 release.
Crytek has not yet announced a smartphone edition of its CryEngine, though the company has in the past made several indications that it will eventually support mobiles with its tech.
“Going mobile is an incredibly exciting step for us as a game development company,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.

“The way that people play games on mobile devices is a real blessing. This allows us to get back to our roots, experiment and focus our energy on creating great gameplay experiences while still keeping Crytek’s high production values,” he added.

It is hard for physics puzzlers to stand out from the app store crowd, but this looks like it may do that. The graphics look quite nice. Presumably, there will be an iPad version.

Wow! Not what I expected from CryTek, to say the least, but the graphics are nonetheless impressive for the genre. Hope to hear more about this one soon, and I'm likewise hopeful for either a confirmed iPad version or better yet, a Universal build.

There's a bit of gameplay footage here:

Right-click the flash video and select "show controls". Then go to 0:43.
