The magic armor says that it will cut damage in 1/4, but I am not noticing any difference. Level 1 Grasswalkers still do one half heart of damage every time I touch them, and making it past all of the swarming ice birds is practically impossible. I have maximum health, so that helps a bit, but being able to last four times longer would be invaluable. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am in the exact same spot. I assume you have to carry/throw the nugget to the top and carry it back to him. I got most of the way but dropped it at the last second and now have to start over again.

That's how it works, you can't take less damage than half a heart. It's simply the bottom line. With the armor though, the maximum damage you take is one heart.
