For those that haven't noticed, 1.0.5 update it out for iOS.... 2 updates in 24 hours! Not bad hey!

The OSX (MAS) version is still waiting for review, but hopefully will look looked at soon.

It seems that some people are still getting crashes, though far fewer than before, so that's a good start.

If anyone here gets any crashes, and can re-produce it or knows exactly what they did when it crashed, I would love the info.

Cheers :-)

can't argue with that speed. I didn't even get a chance to snag 1.0.4...

I have just posted a long post on my Cubemen blog. Many of you may not be interested, but some might be.

It's about the last 4 days since Cubemen went live on iOS and it's a crazy story.

For those that read it, and actually make it to the end, thanks :-)

Talking

Just a quick shout out to show I am still working away, relentlessly, on the next Cubemen update.

This build is more a stability update than a feature update, though there are a few little new things I have added.

ADDED
  • Added new Defense Level - UpDown
  • Added message for No Support for GMA950 cards on game start (OSX)
  • Added message for No Support for iPad1 on game start (iOS)
  • Added message about network games and version number
  • Added device icons (mac, pc, ipad)
  • Added more music loops
  • Added sound-fx chime when player joins network game
  • Added framerate threshold for dropping VFX on iOS devices at low frame rate (Check Options screen - on by default)
  • Added incrementing cost for units (This changes the game slightly for those that spam levels with GRILLS)
  • Added move lives to Beginner (15 lives) and Easy levels (13 lives)

IMPROVED
  • Improved performance where possible
  • Improved Mortar unit at short distance and stationary targets
  • Improved online game connection screens ( Now Looks Nicer)
  • Improved Endless mode - It's now harder :-)

FIXED
  • Fixed Skimish mode players not attacking other players when no non player units on the level.
  • Fixed imbalance on AI Grenade units in Skirmish mode
  • Fixed skirmish game stability and syncing
  • Fixed more crash bugs
  • Fixed bug where stats used for achievements were not storing correctly ( stats and achievements could now be out of sync, but they will re-sync over time )
  • Fixed humped bonus times
  • Fixed Last Stand - Best scores To Beat not loading in properly

Tis is the complete list now for 1.0.6.

Cheers :-)

It seems there isn't almost anyone online in the Skirmish mode?
Tried this mode yesterday for the first time and there were maximum two hosts and when I created a game I had to wait some minutes before having a player. The game crashed in both offline and online skirmish modes by the way.
Tried today and again only one host or "currently no players".

And in the Defense mode, when there are too many action the game slows down.

By the way, what about creating a defense mode (offline and online) with the same cubemen units in both sides?

My job has an annoying firewall behind it so it's impossible for me to connect at work. I miss out on a lot of MP goodness that way. Odd, considering I can still download games on the company wifi.

Downloading off the internet uses TCP/IP which is never blocked on firewalls etc unless it's a specific port.

Network games use UDP, which is often blocked on corporate firewalls as it's never really used for anything other than games (as its un-reliable delivery) and is often the cause of bringing networks down due to heave load with lots of gamers.

So it's not surprising at all that you can't play on your corporate network

As games are hosted by other players, if there is no one playing Cubemen, or no one wanting play a network game at that time, then you won't see anyone. Though Cubemen sales have been ok, it would need to quadruple (minimum) to get enough people always online to always find a game.

Your best bet is to get your friends to play Cubemen too and play against against them.

With regards to the Skirmish mode crashing, that's all been fixed in the 1.0.6 update that is waiting for review from Apple right now.

That has been improved a bit in the 1.0.6 update and I have also manage dto improve it more since the 1.0.6 update was submitted, so it's going to get bettering future updates.

Um, that's what Skirmish mode is. Or I am just not understanding what you mean?

Cheers :-)

I should also add that in 1.0.5 I added private games, and many are now playing these games. private games don't appear in the games list.

I just counted and over 700 private games have been played in the last 5 days and 900 public games, so clearly private games have been a success.
