Bought this last night, think its a great vertical shoot em up. If you like 1942 type games then this is one of the best i've played on iOS. Nice graphics, from what i've seen so far nice levels with the usual huge ship/boat end of level baddies.

The animation of the plane is good, move the plane left or right and the plane tilts as it goes to that side, other shoot em ups i've seen similar are 'lazy' and its just the same graphic for every direction.

To me its like an updated 1942 with much better graphics, looking forward to seeing the later levels. Very happy they have relative touch controls which work well, enjoying this and worth the money.

Wow!!! Wasn't expecting it. I'm a big fan of Epicforce. Will surely buy this!

Is there a chance of Super laser 2 ever coming out?

@Sanuku: Thanks for the video. We will release a "proper" iPad version in the near future with the updates.

@eugekava: Thanks for your support! Not sure if we will make a sequel to Super Laser or not at this moment as we always try to make different kind of games but it seems like people just like our shoot'em ups more.

A quickly assembled video trailer:

Looks good, plays pretty well, but the coin system (especially the continue/bomb/sidekick costs) is off putting.

Hope developers can stop with this IAP. The best plane costs 33,000 coins, and the first level only gave Sanku 359. That's about 100 replays for the plane, without purchasing IAP.

Does the coin drop amount increase (substantially, I might add) in later levels? Or are high tier aircraft not as desirable as their steep price, hence they're only necessary for people who find the game overwhelmingly difficult?

Well, I earned about 200 coins per mission on easy. After 10 missions or so I bought the p40 for 2000 coins. It has better health, damage and couple of other parameters. I was able to get much further with it than the first aircaraft. Each new game gives you 7 continues. After you exhausted your continues you can either resume from the same level or restart the game. The trick is to not die in the first couple of missions to save continues for the harder levels. I play on easy. On normal difficulty I earned 300 coins in one mission and I really sucked. You must earn more on higher difficulty. You actually get to unlock the different support aircraft as well but the prices are crazy. Those who are familiar with the original will remember that the game was very hard. It's no different here. You don't ever need to buy any IAP to progress here though. I don't intend to anyway, unless I decide to reward the dev extra $$$. It's a quite enjoyable game with nice balance and difficulty. The game play is hectic and fun. I would have liked to pay a premium price and have more reasonable unlock targets but reality of app store is that the game won't sell very well at a price above $.99 and this game deserves to do well.
Considering the amount of content in this game, nice graphics and fun I had I can easily recommend it for shmup fans.

The appinfo doesn't state it's universal, but it is. I know the thread title says it but I only read the first couple words before opening it and I almost passed this thread over before I figured it out. Still not sure what to expect here since shmups with IAP consumables have repeatedly disappointed me, but for a buck I think I'll still bite.

You don't really need the best plane to play through the game, I believe you would enjoy playing the game even with the standard equipped plane and sidekick. Also, coins are accumulated, as eugekava mentioned, you should have enough coins for other jets after playing a few missions.

But thanks for the feedbacks and we will keep fine tuning the game as well as the coin system in the updates.

I have gone as far as Mission 6 after managing to last on one life for 3 missions. I love the game! Its a lot of fun. I am now saving coins to buy the next airplane - F4F that has even better health (7000). To unlock the next airplane you need to finish the game on Normal difficulty or with 15,000 coins, the one after that - 33,000 coins, the one after that - finish the game on Hard or pay 128,000 coins. So far quite reasonable...
To unlock the last one - you need to pay 288,000 coins. That means that I have to play 1000 missions average to unlock this one. To buy 5000 coins costs $0.99. That means I have to spend over $57.00 if I want to buy this plane. I know I don't have to buy it and the game is AWESOME even if you play with the first 2 or 3 planes, but you need to make the unlocking of other planes far more reasonable. Same goes for support planes (sidekicks).
I also would've liked "Super Bullet" and "Invincible" powerups to be available as pick ups in game (perhaps in the later stages, one or two per mission?). You get a few when you start playing and then you have to buy new ones with coins. If I am saving coins for aircraft I am not going to waste them on consumable powerups. That makes the two buttons on screen redundant. Perhaps the buttons for Super bullet, Invincible and bomb can be visible only when these powerups are available?

The game is the hardest (to me) of the series so far but I am enjoying. I am putting the blind sight to onto the IAP stuff when there is generous offer on the continue count. You need a lot of digging and time on this one to enjoy, unfortunately, and unlike many other shooters out there where one can easily complete the game on Easy without the extra. My $0.02

Nice work!
