I've been hopeful to see some better strategy games on the iPad...And "Combat Missions" along with "Battle Academy" have really impressed me and are THE standard by which future strategy games should be set!!
Having said that this game needs a lot of polish and tweaks to the animation, visuals and controls. Thanks to the Devs for bringing such an awesome game to the iPad..hopefully it can be updated and improved. Also any plans to bring a skirmish mode vs. AI and/or randomly generated missions? For no reason in particular, I assumed it was a port of the original. It is not. This is a new game, with MUCH less content than the original PC CMBN. Vastly much less in fact. It is pretty good... But it is not what I thought. That explains the low price point. It looks and plays pretty well, but it's obviously based on the newer, post Shock Force game. I highly recommend the original on PC. It can be had for less than $10 without any DRM and is very worthwhile. I must have spent 2 hundred plus hours playing skrimishes with design your own forces on random maps against my roommate. None of that here, just the canned scenarios on a handful of maps and multiplayer. I would really have rather had the old game instead of this new, but stripped down one. |

This don't work too good guys.
Jerky scrolling on iPad 3, low res, bad sprites, takes about 15 seconds to compute your actions each turn, then plays out as a video clip (although you're able to move the camera which is confusing and awkward). Sprites from a distance are awful. Could be a great game, at the moment, avoid like the plague |

Definitely playable though. I'm a fan of strategy games and this hits all my buttons! It is by no means a fast pace game and take a lot of patience. If you like strategy this is a must but if you want a lot of fast pace action avoid it |

Downloading now, simply because even if it says Combat Mission: The Spreadsheet I gotta have it.
![]() I never liked the new Shock Force engine when it first came out, but hopefully this will be fun even if it isn't based on the BO/BB/AK engine. I can still remember being totally enthralled with the CM Beta Demo back in '99...I can only hope having CM on my iPad can bring some of that back.

So, if you're saying to avoid the game for that reason, then you probably wouldn't enjoy any of the CM games, regardless of platform. --DotComCTO |

So, we're all hoping that Battlefront live up to this promise. If they do (and prices are reasonable) then this will continue to be an important entry in the iOS war game front, and it should provide a lot of fun for a long time. Keep your fingers crossed! ![]() --DotComCTO |

Looking at the gameplay clip from Sanuku, what strikes me as odd is the unit behaviour. Sanuku moves a tank that gets fired on during the first move, and the tank doesn't seem to react, it just keeps following it's pre-set orders showing zero intelligence and no attention to the fact that it is being shot at. For a game that is supposed to be "realistic" with a ton of "depth", this just seems stupid to me. Or did I miss something?
