Well I do entirely agree with you that I would MUCH MUCH rather see them fixing the current issues rather then just "updating" the game. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the clouds are unfair...because EVERYONE has to deal with the weather conditions. But it does take messing around with trinkets and what not to finally get a good run. Though even when I use the best combination of trinkets I still sometimes get horrible runs because of the weather conditions, but that is to be expected. I just keep playing till I get a certain weather condition that I like, and then I restart the race every time I'm about to finish it IF I don't have the record that I want. That way I can have "good" weather and just keep playing it over and over again till I get a relatively good time.

Also if you didn't already know, every time you FINISH a race a new weather pattern will be in the next race (or if your REALLY unlucky you could get the same one, rarely though). But you actually have to FINISH it, you can't just start it and then pause and exit, that doesn't work. That way just keep playing races till you finally feel you got the right weather conditions and then just restart like I said above. This way you get to keep that weather condition every time you race. But make sure that you do NOT land on the landing zone or land at all, because once you do that you are NOT able to pause the game and restart the race.

As for the lag your having...I don't know what to say. I use a Ipod 4th gen, with a 5.1 IOS and I have no lag AT ALL. What usually happens to me though is that if I have another app running, after I finish a race, the sky gnomes app will shut down. Though it is easily fixable by just closing out of all your apps before starting the sky gnomes app.

Is this actually fun for anyone?

That depends entirely on the person. I'm competitive and so I love playing this game, because everyday I have to "fight" or race for rank 1 in my group and in the overall leader boards. So I enjoy this very much. If you don't really like the rather "hard" (I thought it was easy, but some people say otherwise) learning curves/competitiveness of games, then this probably isn't for you. Though the developers said they were going to be releasing an update sometime soon, which will hopefully make it more appealing to more people.

Retrying until you get the weather you want, seems the opposite of "hard". It's just gaming the system.

I never said that particular thing was hard. I thought it was pretty obvious to just restart the race and keep the weather pattern that you wanted, though many people on here complain about how hard it is to get the "right" weather...when really its quite simple. Call it what you want, but (to me) that is what the game is completely based on is the weather. Giving a different weather pattern each race will help give a variety of ways to try different combinations of trinkets, and me just restarting before I finish the race to be able to do the same race again with the same weather is not cheating or taking advantage of anything. Because if you have played the game, when you get to the races with weather, regardless of what weather condition it is, they are ALL very hard to navigate and can only be made easier with certain trinket combinations, so me liking a specific weather pattern and "keeping it" till I get a good run only makes the game more enjoyable and fun. Instead of me grinding for hours and HOURS to get a good run on a "good" weather pattern.

I for one, hope the dev fixes the game so that the weather is different each time a race is started - even if you quit before completing a race. If there is no "select your weather" button as a game option, doing what's been described above is an exploit.

I guess its an "exploit" but it doesn't give me much of an "edge" against other players (especially on the mountain cup). Regardless of what weather condition it is, they are all nearly the same. They all have clouds blocking your view and they all have floating rocks. Some of them have sunshine/moonshine, but those are more rare and they actually are harder to navigate through (so I personally wouldn't try to find a race with that). The main thing I try to avoid is the wind, which I can usually get a race with little to no wind with 3 to 4 tries. But once they fix wind in the next update, I could careless about this "exploit" I mainly use it for just being able to start another race quicker, which is actually how I found out about this "exploit". =p Because I no longer have a need for gold or gears.
