That's one reason I want chat - so I can be polite if I need to step away from a game for a while. Also because it's a means to gather people back together to finish up a more than 2 player game. Put out a messages saying, "you folks up for playing some turns now?" If they can, everybody then stops in and you play it live. This requires the app to send out notifications when you send a message, not just show them in-app. I.e. like Carcassonne does it. It works well there.

i dont know of anyone who was griefed in Carcassonne, this is the poster child for how all aspects of asynchronous gaming should be handled. So im +1 for chat.

If they're nervous about 12-year-olds spamming chat, why not at implement a list of canned messages to send, like "that's it for tonight" or "how did I pull that off?" or even "You took my card!"

Noooooo. I always hated this solution.

Just give us a proper chat. There's no real drawback from the users end. Also, this is no Call of Duty, so I doubt there will be many 12 years old spamming.

And since you're picking who you play your games with...

Maybe they just want to keep the volume of traffic going through their servers low.

Another vote for chat. I don't think chat message takes up too much network traffic, as there are many ways to implement such feature.

Another note for a "heavy" multi-player person, I find it very strange that the "Game List" is on the left side among many other buttons while the "lobby" and "forfeit" button are close on the right (careful with what you touch!), a "next table" style button is strongly recommended (to all Playdek games)

I completely agree. I've almost forfeited several times. I would love a button that takes you to your next active game.

Also, another vote for chat!

I strongly recommend Playdek to get anyone here from this thread to playtest their next game (Summoner Wars?) on the MP features -- not me, I would personally love to but I know nothing about the physical version to be helpful -- since the MP UI is subpar before many sync and async games I have come across on iOS.

I totally agree with you folks - I've come dangerously close to hitting the "Forfeit" button by accident due to it's location. I have the same issue with Ascension - "Forfeit" is right there above "Game List", so it's a little too accessible A "Next Game" button would be awesome.

I also would like to see some sort of chat feature - I've played some really enjoyable games with the several of the folks here, so it'd be fun to throw a few "well played" and zings out where appropriate.

I've really enjoyed having this ipad implementation of the game - it got me motivated to pull out the physical copy that's been on my shelf for the last 8 months and play it with my kid this past weekend. Had a great time with it. I even just ordered the physical copy of the "Coldest War" expansion to check it out.

Speaking of which, anyone heard a timeline on the expansions for the electronic version? Are they going to be spaced 6 months apart like the Ascension ones have been?
