If you're trying to figure out what cards you might want to pick up at any given time, this is what David Gregg wrote about the card colours:

Quote:
The colors are themed, granted loosely. We're working on making the themes more obvious in the expansions.
This is what I go by as I design new expansions:

Green, Purple and White are the primary win condition colors.
Blue, Red and Yellow are the support colors.

Purple = high strength, low health, effect: direct damage
Green = high strength, med health, effect: influence, minion boosting for combat
White = med strength, high health, effect: healing, mess with mechanics
Blue = low strength, med health, effect: resource manipulation, especially via card draw
Yellow = med strength, med health, effect: protect the player, buy time
Red = med strength, low health, effect: anti-minion

Main and kicker texts should relate to main and kicker colors, though may be reversed.

I just saw the game designer explain this over on BGG:

The blue Nightfall "N" is the icon for the base set. The other 3 sets are shown as locked because they aren't available in the app (yet!). The 3 red circles on the bottom of the logo indicate if you're including the 3 promos from that set. If you enable Zombie Horde, one of the circles will turn green. The app will remember which promos you used in the last game you created, so you don't have to enable them every time.

When you play online, only the creator of the game needs to have unlocked the promo card in order to use it in the game.

Unfortunately I can see the confusing rules of this game holding it back. I'll be honest, I'm getting a little frustrated. During tutorial I had no idea, and just played a game against 1 AI for about 20 minutes, taking it nice and slow, but still, just as I thought I knew what was happening, turns out I didn't. I don't even get what the final score page means after the game. (my damage dealt and damage taken didn't line up with the AI's damage....what the!?)

Seriously, Playdek, do a YouTube run through of an example game on say an iPad or this may flop..
Wounds can be "healed (if one exiles out the wound cards from their deck).

Appletini, that's a great summary, thanks for relaying that.

Lordgek, good bit of reckon. Sounds quite like ascension regarding the choices to include expansions (in the future). Noted about the promo cards, thanks

When do Kickers come into play? Sometimes they are shown as highlighted, and thus in effect, but others times they are not.

Also now I understand that cards come into "play" after having been put into the chain (if they are minions), and if they survive the chain. Minions have an attack strength at upper right. If it doesn't have that then it's a one shot deal that takes effect during the chain, but then is discarded. Correct?

One of the things that makes the coming into play confusing, is that that display is normally hidden. Probably it will help if I set the animations and progress to slow, so I'm going to do that.

Because a lot of people need to learn to read now. Pisses them off.

But it's true. For me, the board game version was easier to learn. The app's tutorial is a bit difficult to understand.

Anyway, this is a game which you learn by playing, not just by reading the rules.

Crunc, re: kickers. If a card has a kicker it will have a colored dot next to it. If the colour of the card played BEFORE the card that has the kicker is the same colour, then the kicker will work. One of the videos posted back on the other page (it was of two guys talking about the game), explains the kicker bit. Also the rule book (terminology part IV) also explains it, but you really have to be on the ball to pick up exactly what it's saying, without actually seeing an example. I can't remember if the tutorial also shows it.

Example:
A card has a kicker with a blue dot.
Now, first a blue dot card is put down in a chain, then following immediately after that you put down this card with the blue kicker. The kicker will now be active because the preceeding card in the chain was blue.

I have the physical game, but it's been a few months since I've played it. I started playing a game last night and immediately reloads that I need a refresher course.

The kicker is activated if the card you have just chained off of has the kicker color as its large globe. Hmm...I'll try t think how to rephrase that so it's more clear...
