Archon (a game for 8-bit personal / home computers released in the US in 1983) is one of THE defining games of the 1980s.

The Archon HD app will be offered as an in-app purchase from within the Elite Collection HD app. (The in-app will be priced at 1.49/1.59/US$1.99 and it may include one or more other 8-bit games).

The Archon HD app is also available in this stand-alone form. It does not include any other 8-bit games but it may include an infinite lives version.

The Archon HD app is the near-100% original 8-bit game, as written by Jon Freeman and published by Electronic Arts in 1983 and is brought to you - as an officially licenced product - utilizing our Elite Collection HD technology.

Featuring:
- portrait and landscape play / display modes
- iDaptive (user-definable, game-specific joystick, keypad & canvass) Controls
- (Google: "Tiny URL 22qh8hl") for more info
- auto save, on exiting the game
- authentic '8-Bit' sound
- iCade compatible

no screen shot...

no sale. I love Archon. I won't buy without a screen shot though. I wonder at the sudden appearance of several new titles from the same publisher on the same day, without screen shots.

judging by some of their other titles
the presentation should look something like the shot below from Elite Collection HD...

seem to be pretty much near straight ports with the keyboard or joystick controls added into the interface.

note, this screen is not Archon...
but their format appears to be similar across their "8-bit" titles.

not for me, but someone might enjoy.

I agree with above. This standalone version of Archon HD is the same as the one in the Retro Games HD pack. May as well get the pack which includes Archon and several other games for the same price (99c).

Both standalone Archon HD and the Retro Games HD pack allegedly have iCade support.
