Next game should mash up Fireball and Ballistic.
Maybe join forces with certain enemies while attacking others ... I'm thinking like a interstellar Katamari Blasteroid kinda thing.

I have both Super Crossfire and Fireball SE (and love both -- especially SC). But haven't picked up this yet. For some reason, I'm not totally sold on it.
Inferno, however, looks incredible. Hope it comes soon! |

1.02 has been submitted to Apple. Changes:
* Fixed crash with iOS 4.x * Added 1-line information for challenges * Slight optimization * Added option to disable auto-fire * Made sound FX+Music slightly louder (the sound FX aren't disabled when you play your music as far as I can tell, they're just not loud) About Inferno+: That's a video from the old XBLIG version. I'm sure you can find video from the PC version as well, but the iOS version looks a bit different (similar in difference to Ballistic SE's transformation from XBLIG to iOS). I'm hoping Inferno+ will be out in a month or so. |

That's the icing on the cake! Can't wait either. Got the Mac version in the Indie Royale Bundle. Anyone wanting to support an awesome, creative developer should check out their blog! Great stuff, I'm hooked!

I promise you, if Ballistic SE and Fireball SE ran on my 2nd gen iPod, I would have already bought them.

Another great game from Radiangames. After one play of the campaign (got up to wave 41) and each of the timed modes, this ranks up there with Super Crossfire.
The gameplay and controls are tight. I'm able to control the ship exactly how I want. Initially I thought the ship moved slow..but upgrading the ship movement improves that! I like the variety and combinations of enemies which mixes up the game play a bit. The Ballistic mode (slowdown) is a life saver in tight situations. I can't wait till later difficulties. One of my favorite things with this and Super Crossfire is the flexible upgrade system. That being said..there isn't a variety of gameplay modes if you compare with PewPew 1/2 or Infinity Field. Boss fights would be nice..but is tricky to implement. I like the boss fights of Beat Hazard, but not so much in PewPew 2 or Infinitly Field (mostly the boss with the front shield). There are customisible controls, which is greatly appreciated. The default controls are fine to me on the ipod touch. On my ipad, the controls still work perfectly, but I had to move the controls. It seems like by default, autofire is on and if I take my finger off the shooting pad, it seems to go into a 1 stick mode with auto aim? But thanks for making an update with option to turn off autoshoot, so we can lead enemies into the bombs like in Fireball. The one nitpick is the Ballistic meter is pretty much covered by the shooting stick. I know you can tweak the controls, but its difficult on the ipod screen to fit everything in and not obscure the play field. Maybe an option to place it on the top right corner of the screen? The only other nitpick thing is the pause being in the top center of the screen. I wouldn't mind it being in the bottom middle of the screen closer to my thumbs on the ipod. The graphics is simple with enemies being circles (of different sizes and colors indicating which type of enemies). The effects are nice and clean, which I quite like, and appreciate that isn't over the top like Infinity Field and Beat Hazard. On the ipod screen, everything is smaller naturally, so some of the enemy types are hard to tell with my eyes. On the new ipad, everything is super clear! The music is typical great Radiangames style. The icloud sync so far has worked perfectly. If I had to rank *my* favorite space themed arena style dual stick shooters..its currently: 1. PewPew 1/2 2. Ballistic (but fast approaching #1) 3. Infinitly Field/Beat Hazard Ultra Overall, Ballistic is an excellent game with no real cons for me. The gameplay is fast and frantic, combined with the awesome upgrade system. People interested in dual stick shooters should definitly consider this game. People not sick of arena dual stick shooters should consider this game too. Just a few questions: Just wondering..is there a reason why you picked the campaign wave savepoints at (1-6-11-21-31-41-61-101)? It feels like the gap between 41-101 is pretty large. Would savepoints at (1-6-11-21-41-61-81-101) be ok, so the later stages savepoints are a bit more evenly spaced out? The 2 power ups I'm confused on is: Power Blaster "power blast fires forward" - Is this the firing power? Ballistic Blast "Blast at start and extra shots" - Probably just me being dumb..but I can't tell what this does. |
