Visit classicgames.cn and you'll notice that many of the Flash Contra fan games there are extremely similar to the hunk of crap that Icefish released. The music, as well as the levels, in Icefish's Contra games are very similar to those flash versions. The guy you're looking for is a prick named Jian.

I gave him some alternatives based off of contra and loE and Platformers (not exactly like contra but all good Platformers)

Gunhead looks like it could be great BUT i'm worried about the 'revolutionary control system'. Hope they keep an alternative old fashioned one as well, touch screen buttons work fine for platform/Contra type games, hopefull it wont turn into some crazy tilt/swipe type game

True but a list of other good platform type games will be useful for many people to try, only takes a few seconds to look at screenshots on itunes. I've often discovered many great games due to someone putting lists out there

You're right to be skeptical, I'm not the 1st to claim "awesome new controls" only to have them not end up so hot, after all. Tilt works great for Doodle Jump, but for a run'n'gun/platformer there's no way it can give the player such precise control as is required for this type of game.

I am a superfan of Contra (and the like) and the only way I'd try to make a game like that, is only if I could do it complete justice. We've got it feeling really good at this point, but still too early to demonstrate it. In due time, keep your eye out!

Gun Runner is close, and is free. If it gets more levels, it can be a pretty good contra clone.
It's an endless runner though FYI

I'm not a fan of endless runners, i've played a few and everytime i wish there was a left/right button. Many of these would turn out to be brilliant 'Mario' esque style horizontal platformers.

Gun Runner has the potential to be a great Contra clone but sadly just another runner.
