Default V1.1 submitted

I'm pleased to announce that I submitted the v1.1 update of Animal Trackers to Apple last Friday night (UK time), so with a bit of luck, it should be available to download this coming Friday / Saturday, depending on which part of the world you're in.

To recap what's changed:

* New 'Explore!' mode, where the timer counts up instead of down. Finish the level in your own time and earn a blue star. Later, play it again and try to beat your best time. (Also ideal for toddlers.)

* New comprehensive help console with over 30 pages of graphics and text

* Playing level 1 in 'Easy' mode using the finger-point control system has an animated on-screen guide showing you how to touch, hold and slide your finger on the screen so that you can efficiently control Foxy.

* 'Easy' mode now has more generous time limits.

* Various bug fixes and improvements

Default V1.1 delay

Unfortunately, version 1.1 of Animal Trackers is still not out. :/

It was due to go live two Fridays ago, but at the last minute, I had to pull it because I discovered a bug had been introduced on at least one device in certain circumstances.

It's fixed now and I submitted the new update a week ago on Friday, but perhaps due to Apple being busy fixing their DRM problem that was in the news this week, they didn't get round to reviewing the game.

But now that they've got that sorted out, hopefully they'll review the game on Monday.

The game works great on the iPad 2. That's what I use to play it on. It's not a Universal game, but it looks great on the iPad. You seriously cannot tell it's running in 2x mode.

Default App Store review delay

I just noticed that Apple has extended the review time estimates from the usual 7 days to 10 days, so it may be a few days yet before v1.1 is out.

As soon as it's available, I'll let you know both here and on Twitter (@AnimalTrackers).

Default Version 1.1 is live!

Finally, version 1.1 of Animal Trackers is live on the App Store!

If you've already bought the game, the update is, of course, free.

What's New in Version 1.1
  • New 'Explore!' mode, where the timer counts up instead of down. Finish the level in your own time and earn a blue star. Later, play it again and try to beat your best time.
  • New comprehensive help console with over 30 pages of graphics and text
  • 'Easy' mode now has more generous time limits.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Dave

Been out of pocket a bit lately but I saw the update in the app store and immediately grabbed it. I also left you a nice 5-star review afterwards.

Thanks a ton for listening and actually implementing some of your fans' ideas into your game.

Now to get the word out to all the Twitter guys and give some promo codes away!

Thanks for the feedback and the review.

I'll be Tweeting and sending out emails and codes to as many games sites as I can find later this week, so hopefully that will give the game some much needed exposure.

In the mean time, so as to not keep all of my one egg in my one basket, I'm already working on my next project, so no summer holiday for me...

So far, Animal Trackers has been a long and expensive apprenticeship in iOS game development, so I need as many eggs in as many baskets as possible in the hope of at least one of them selling well enough to actually pay the bills...

I just hope that it doesn't take until my seventh game (like Imangi) before I strike gold! lol
