I would object if the game shows ads out of the blue. I believe people are willing to explore the game before buying it, and if they'll react negatively if an unwanted ad pops up - it usually suggests it's just one of those low-quality-ad-farming-apps.

Hunters:Episode One did it this way, and even though there were people who really didn't like the ads, I guess that most were indifferent, and many people clicked on them.

My 2 cents.
Thanks for your input.

I would probably link the ad pop up frequency to number of games played.
So only players who are playing a lot, with the game still locked and free, get more ad 'opportunities'.
It gives people several games to assess if they want to pay for the game, and increases motivation to unlock and remove the ads it the longer they do play. Seems fair in principle to me?

If you've already unlocked on a device, that device wont even show you this unlock purchase in the list. So there is no option to "pay again"
In that case you'll need to wait for iCloud to sync that state onto a different device. It is the only way I can do this, but at least you will also get your chosen tournaments and game states synced aswell, which non-iCloud users obviously can't do.

New users, or those who have not yet unlocked before v1.1, (about 98% of current users) will use the new Unlock IAP, and will be able to "restore" that purchase on another device using the same store log in, as iTuines will know they have already purchased it and allow it to be downloaded for free.

If that's all you can do, then that's all you can do. Shame it wasn't like this from the start.

Regarding ads, for what it's worth: if you must have them, it's fine for a free download so long as it's tastefully handled. However, the full game unlock must get rid of all advertisements, as it's what people very much expect.

Absolutely, will not have ads for paid users at all, unless they want to view clips in exchange for coins, by visiting the shop and selecting to do so.

Also thinking about replacing the top coin pack, with a non consumable that effectively disables the coin system and allows any new content I add, like new tournaments and modes, to be automatically unlocked. Like a lifetime "free pass" for a slightly higher price.

- also, does anyone know if it's possible to edit the title of a thread? I'd like to be able to announce v1.1 going live and going iPad universal at the right time, without starting new threads?

-- and also, please check out Score!, it's out now and rather good!

I like this game a lot, bought the big pack of coins to show some love and support, i really dont mind if the iap system changes a little on the new version but what I would really like is the ability to put my edited squads and created teams on the offline tournaments.

I feel that with the customization possible already in the game this could be an excellent offline game for us who dont play online much. The possibilty of editing Club players on the league tournaments would add an extra layer of depth. I like the selection of tournaments aviable, i just wanna be able of playing for my home nation on the 66 world cup or putting me in some obscure chinese team and be the top scorer.

Great game! Gonna love it for the ipad, may be the first game that makes me use iCloud to transfer everything there.

Hi MeanTuna,

I will allow editing of players in the tournaments squads in an update. It's a great suggestion.
Taking custom teams into any tournament is a bit more complicated, but I'll definitely look into it.

One option is for me to to make a custom tournament that only allows custom teams, but I can make an option to copy any team form any available tournament into a custom team slot. This would also let you take historic teams and league teams online too, without having to manually recreate them in the editor.

That sounds great, It would be a step in the right direction to make an awesome game even better!

Apologies, but had to pull v1.1 out of submission. You nearly got a version that gave you 100 coins every 3 games Will probably take another week to get the update through submission now. I will see if apple will let me expedite the update though, but unlikely they'll oblige a tiny indie..
I'll add a daily play coin reward to the build before I resubmit. Unlocked users will get more daily coins than free users, to help expedite their progress to new tournaments.

I'm sure (and hope) you'll all be playing through Score! this week anyway!

Default Coin Unlock price drop

Celebrating S.S.C. reaching #1 Free Sports App in Poland, Nigeria, Greece, Iceland and Jamaica, and top 5 in Russia, Portugal, Croatia, Bahrain and Turkey.. (All Huge Soccer Nations, I'm sure you'll agree!!)

Until V1.1 goes live, with it's larger in-game coin rewards and faster game speed settings (it's still queueing for review with Apple) we're reducing the price of the coin packs.

That's 1200 coins + full game unlock, for 69p / 1$. Three times as many coins for the lowest price, enough to unlock at least 4 Historic Tournaments / Leagues.

The 2800 pack has dropped 1 price tier also.

Note: You might have to force close and restart the App to make sure the new pricing comes through.

>> Any timeline for iPad version?
~~

Not at the moment. v1.1 is still awaiting review. I can't submit the next update until that's gone through. I have to make the iPad version support both landscape and portrait for iCade support, and that's quite a lot of changes.

The game will probably switch to a paid format with that release, as the "try it for free" approach hasn't really been very successful. Less that 1% of players have decided to purchase (despite 75% of people rating it 5stars) and that's not really very sustainable.

I'm all ears as to any suggestions for what might make more people think the game is worth their 69 pence..
