Carlos, you have no idea what you are talking about.
I've JB 2 iPads (iPad 2 and new iPad) over the past year, and they are way better than they were before. With JB you can make an iOS device the way you want it, with no stupid limitations imposed by Apple. I will always JB my devices. In fact, I would not even buy an iOS device unless I knew I could JB it. |

Why is it irrational?

Part of the reason I jailbroke was because I dislike the YouTube app and the caluclator apps so I removed them. I added in two new ones to replace them and couldn't be happier. I came from Android where the process to root a phone was simple and the freedom it gave me to my phone was too good to pass up.
You can jailbreak your phone, patch security holes, change your root password, add a firewall among other things and be even more secure than the official firmware. |

Because your fears are not based on facts, but emotions. That is irrational.
The facts point to JB being quite safe and extremely beneficial to the user. Not the other way around. Nevertheless, you are free to do what you want. If you're happy with the standard iOS, then stay with it. But JB offers many advantages and perks that Apple will not give their users. The hardware is capable of more than Apple will allow, and JB gives the user full access to what an iOS device can really do. |

Speaking of irrational: unless you are both a hardware and a software engineer, you can't really argue against Apple's decision to provide iOS as-it-is. Since they do design the hardware and the software, they do also know best how to fine-tune things and usually have also good reasons when restricting services and/or features.
Sure, JB overrides those restrictions and opens tightly sealed doors - but have you ever heard of Pandora's box? Some doors are closed for good, my friend. ![]() I'm quite confident that Apple will never ever try to steal my money, brick my iPhone, reduce the battery life, etc. neither will it allow apps which are under his control to do this. Needless to say, this cannot be guaranteed for any apps coming from outside Apple's ecosystem; in the latter case there will be nobody to blame or made responsible for eventual damages... Don't get me wrong: I'm not against JB, I'm just saying it is not for everybody. Advanced users and professionals might have a good reason to "open" their devices, but JB is neither required nor safe for the average user. Last edited by Carlos; 07-01-2012 at 06:29 PM.. |

If you're not completely clueless, jailbreaking is fine. The end.

I never encountered any problems at all an I jailbreak since 4.0.1... dont know what some are talking about, must be irrational fear, or haters or misinformed people... because otherwise is great
Jailbreak gives us what Apple don't... anyways, every single person with an iPhone Ive encountered wanted Cydia after seeing what it has to offer, I jailbreaked like 100 iPhones by now, but I dont install the app hacking ones
