Platypus

Side-Scrolling Arcade games are lacking.

Anyone else looking forward to this game? (I know I am!)

Also what are some other side-scrolling games that would be great to see in the store?

Meh. I wasn't a big fan of Platypus when they ported it to PSP, and I doubt I'll be a fan of it this time around. I'd love to see ports of Gradius, R-Type, or Raiden games to the iPhone, but I doubt that's going to happen. One can only dream...

I've yet to see a decent control system for traditional shoot'em ups on the iPhone. Autofire and accelerometer based movement usually ruin the experience IMHO.

I've started prototyping various touch-based controls to see if this sort of game is possible without compromising the gameplay. If things work out, my next game will definitely be an old-school/hardcore (and probably vertical) shooter, if not, it's back to the drawing board.

This game should rock on the iphone. SHUMPS are being missed on this device.

Give this app a second look when released. I'll be buying it!

FRAG ON.

I'm actually surprise that a lot of people haven't commented or are impressed with this game.

I see most of the hype is with the long awaited Rolando and the confusion with Cube 2.
