Or you could just play without the bombs and see how well you can do...
Much funner without it.

I will do my review tomorrow, based on the future addition of ipod music with full sound effects. I will post my review here too since I always post a lot of garbage, but I will proclaim this as the number one dual stick shooter on ios. Period. Of course this will probably be after the next update, but I like the fact that you are so responsive to our feedback, and I like your business tactics like no inapps, different ships, and listening to input like adding some kind of music. Again congrats, great job! |

I'd also like an adjustable, stationary stick since I could never get used to these "floating" sticks. Look to PewPew/Infinity Field/Radiangames for some of the best stick controls and options to adjust them. Regarding the bombs..I don't even bother using the bombs cause if the way I hold the iPad. Aside from this..the main complaint I have is the time from completing a level or dying until the start of the next level (or restarting a level) feels "long" to me. It feels like its such an abrupt interruption in the pace of the game. I don't know if this is the common trait between these older arcade games. This, and a lot of Minter/Llamasoft games, while fun to me...I've always hated the transition between stages or the death transitions. Is it possible to add an option to speed up the stage transition, and to completely skip the death screen waving scene? I hope you can find a possible way to get the game to the iPod touch...for some reason, I prefer to play these games on the iPod since its easier to hold. Maybe the make this app universal? Or have one universal app, and a cheaper iPhone app (kinda like Super Cross Fire). Otherwise, fun game. I've just managed to reach level 30 so I still have a long ways. I like how theres actually different types of enemies. With the current controls, I don't know if I can make it to black belt...but I'll give it a try. =) Last edited by tops2; 06-16-2012 at 02:24 AM.. |

What a surprise. Looking at all the releases and this was my Thursday pick in the end, and don't regret it one bit.
Have to join the other ravers here: by far the best twin stick shooter experience on the iOS platform. Actually. I haven't played a tighter package anywhere else to be honest. And yes ... Please add an option to active the bomb by double tapping. Never use the bombs because it's too tough and too slow to move another finger on the screen while holding the iPad in both hands. Dutchy here. Will write a review for you guys.

The dynamic sticks are really killing me. I feel so clumsy compared to games that allow static positioning. I was tearing things up in Ballistic last night, but I make some really ham-fisted moves in Mutant Storm (particularly when the sticks decide to recenter themselves). There needs to be another option for activating bombs, too. If you hold the iPad like an oversized Gameboy, it's really awkward to two-finger tap. An option to use a double tap or an on-screen button would be really helpful.
Also, there should be a quicker restart option, at least for Tally mode. Die, wait for the animation to finish, wait for the menu to load, pick the stage again, wait for it to load... But despite my whining, it's an excellent port. It just needs a couple of rough edges smoothed out. |

The way I use it is that I keep my fire thumb always down and just do a single tap to activate the bomb which works for me very well. But definitely the things you mention will be put in the update - especially the double tap for bombs and a traditional set of stick options ![]() It's really good to get feedback from the community because it helps to make the game a better game... that's the good thing about digital distribution - no game is ever finished on release, people like the niggles sorted out. And it's all possible with an update

Typically, I hold the iPad like a big Gameboy, with my fingers wrapped around the back. Thus to activate the bomb, I have to bring a finger around the front, which is a bit awkward with so large a device. This isn't an issue for Tally mode, of course.
