Just found this game, surprised it hasn't received more fanfare. Looks like it might have been stuck in soft launch limbo over the last year, although they just updated it so it must not be dead yet. It's a lot of fun, so hopefully it picks up.

Just read this is now out worldwide. I've been playing for a while now and it's a blast. There are timers on building and recruiting, but not on attacking. Thus, as long as you have some troops and/or a villain, you can attack and do missions across your map. As the map grows as you level this can eventually lead to what feels like unlimited play.

The game starts of pretty basic. You get some generic thugs and the Riddler with one power. As you play and level up yourself and your individual villains, you'll get more minions, more villain powers, and more tactics. Minions range from having different target priorities, to different attacks and abilities. Minions tend to be kind of dumb, but you gain some control over them through the use of tactics which you unlock and expand the number of uses of as you level up.

You unlock more villains as you expand your map, and while you can buy them earlier, you will eventually get all of them for free. Currently the roster includes Riddler, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, and Scarecrow, with Bane listed as coming soon. Each villain has their own unique active and passive abilities, and they have their own XP, so you need to play them to level them up. During battles you have complete control over your villain, and can even do many missions with them alone if you are clever. You can always choose any villain you have unlocked to guard your base or attack. The only exception is if you lose one during an attack they go to jail and you need to wait for that particular villain to become available again, usually a pretty low timer.

Base building and attack is more similar to Dungeon Keeper than CoC in my opinion. Bases are maze like in their construction, and you need to be careful how you use your villain, and when you send in different minions to avoid losing thugs during an attack. As you play you get tactics that let you redirect your minions, gas a room, blow up walls and other key targets, and just generally give you more options on how to beat a stage.

Overall it's quite a bit of fun. I feel there is far more depth than a lot of free base builders out there, and I rarely feel constrained by timers as there is usually a lot to do with the villains and troops you have on hand.

I think I beta tested this a long time ago. About a year ago? It was pretty fun then, and they seem to have made a lot of changes since I've played it. Polished and fun so far, haven't played long enough to see how the balance changes.

Wow, didn't expect to like this...I'm actuality really, really liking it. Yes it's FTP, but I feel WB has offered up a very fair play experience whether you in-app or not. Lots of depth, plenty to see & do, I'm gonna be on this one for awhile. Plus, it's refreshing to play the villainous side for once!

This is pretty cool. Better than I expected it to. I'm still in the beginning stages (gang level 6), but I'm enjoying it so far.

The base building is fun. Kind of like dungeon keeper, where you build rooms, arrange them in whatever configure you want, and load them up with resource generators and defensive measures.

The offensive portion of the game is sort of like clash of clans, but not really. You have full control of whichever super villain you are using and you go room to room, clearing out enemies and looting money. You can deploy different kinds of thugs who automatically do their thing, but you have some control over them by being able to redirect them to go to a specific spot. There are other tactical orders you can give them, but I haven't unlocked them so don't know what they do yet.

The impression I'm getting at this point is that the competitive nature of this game is not super serious. Other players' hideouts show up on your map that you can raid, and they stay in your map until you take them out. Compared to something like clash of clans, the PvP in this game is super casual (which I'm actually happy about).

One of the biggest pluses to me about this is that if your thugs survive the mission, you can keep them. That was a big turn off for me with CoC and other early clones of it. No matter what, you had to replenish your army after each battle.

Another one like this that doesn't get enough credit in my opinion is Warhammer 40k: Drop Assault. Tons of depth in that one, and deserves more than to be called another CoC clone, and so does this.
