I'll take solid smooth performance over resolution every time when it comes to the new iPad, and the devs have done a fine job.
I have to agree. While it looked very nice before, frame rate was not the best. However with the update it's a happy medium. Makes it much more playable with lots going on. I've come across a few people who said there had no performance problems, but hadn't got that far into the game. To them it was something to show off the iPad and nothing more.

Hello everyone,

Due to the feedback regarding the latest update, we will submit a new patch to Apple soon and build-in an option to activate the Retina resolution/support at Galaxy on Fire 2 HD.

Best regards,

The FISHLABS Team

Well ... so, if you reduce the resolution more ... the frame rate will be even better ...

And you think this is the solution for a game which was purchased just because of "Retina Resolution"?

I had the standard version and I purchased the game a second time for my iPad 3 ... just because of the Retina update ... so for me I have to say I feel cheated ... but maybe it is only me ... but I think it is up to the developer to find a way to fix problems without cripple the resolution ...

If you bought an iPad 3 expecting it to push this level of PQ/GFX at the same FPS as ipad 2 at "retina" resolution you just wasted at least $500. Anyways looks like Fishlabs will let the user choose resolution in the next update.

I hope that they at least add anti-aliasing on the 1440x1080 version.

Im glad to see the retina resolution is coming back. Thank you Fishlabs. That being said, I still don't understand one thing. For all those that had performance issues with the retina res option and are now satisfied with the 1440x1080 res frame rate, why didn't they just turn off the retina option to begin with? You had the option built in for greater performance or better visuals. No one made you choose the retina option, unlike having no freedom of choice with the 1440x1080 update. I personally didn't have any issues on my 3rd gen iPad, so why should I have to suffer for a few whiners out there that don't know how or want to use a toggle switch. Sorry, I guess I'm still kind of heated about all of this. I've been really looking forward for the SuperNova addon and yesterday Fishlabs lost me as a customer, today they have restored my confidence in their company and customer service. Thanks everyone for their feedback on this topic and thanks Fishlabs for listening.

We are well aware of the toggle to switch off retina resolution in the previous version. The point is, doing so reduced the resolution to 1024 x 768 when the game was clearly capable of rendering at a higher res as well as maintaining a solid frame-rate. (hence the current update)

Plus, it might be an idea not to call regular forum members whiners, Mr. 2 Posts.

Unfortunately I think we need to point some blame towards Apple and not just the developers. While I love my 'new iPad' and don't regret the upgrade from an iPad 2 it appears the hardware isn't capable of running advanced 3D games at native Retina resolution. While PC games are more advanced than iPad games it would take a better than average graphics card to run at 2048x1536...

Anyone else lose access to Valkyrie with this latest update? I own both versions of this game (purchased the new one just for the new iPad resolution, so am disappointed along with everyone else at this latest switch to lower res). That was supposed to give me access to Valkyrie, and did, until this latest update. Now I'm locked out, it's back to iap-only option, and restore purchases does nothing.
