I'm so excited! I started downloading instantly, then fired off emails to five friends I know will want this right away. Still have a while to download, though!

In the meantime, does anyone know if it's possible to gift an in-app purchase? I was planning to gift the app to a few friends so we could all play together, but now that it's free, I'm not sure how to do that (other than buying separate $10 iTunes gift cards ). Any ideas?

Yes yes yes!

Edit: Wow, 1GB compressed... I need to make room.

Wow talk about incredible value here. For FREE you get: 3 base decks, a single player campaign, 4 different AI opponents, Encounters (puzzles), and the new Planechase mode.

$9.99 unlocks 7 additional decks with cards, more campaign, more puzzles, ONLINE MULTIPLAYER, and more.

Much like the PC/Console versions, IAP for "foil conversions" (think shiny coating) and quick unlocks.

I just hope you get a free deck immediate-unlock for owners of Magic 2012 like is offered with the PC version.

Social Games: Pocket Mine 2, Terra Battle, FF Record Keeper, PAD

I just saw this story, but it's from 2010, so I'm not sure if the gifting mechanism has been updated.

A new "Gifts" section has been added to the App Store T&C explaining the conditions under which Apps can be gifted, including an explanation that Gifts may not be used for in-app purchases, upgrades or the iPod Touch OS

No you can`t but why don`t you gift them an iTunes Gift Card so they could buy the iAP?

You can find those on the iTunes Store below Buy iTunes Gifts
