There's a notable exception to that, which is that a creature that has just regenerated is removed from combat although it remains on the battlefield. If you block a 2/2 trampling creature with a 1/1 regenerator, and you put a regeneration "shield" on the creature and they lightning bolt your creature in response, there are two interesting things: (1) you have to put a regeneration shield on your creature again to make sure it will be there before the lightning bolt lands and (2) in regenerating from the lightning bolt it will be removed from combat and tapped, so now the 2 damage from the trampling creature will get through even though the creature that blocked is still alive and on the battlefield.

I'm new to this thread, so it'd be great if somebody could answer me. Will there ever be an iPhone/iPod version of the game?! If so, when? I want this so bad

No, I absolute don't think so. The user interface would be way too small for an iPhone screen.

This was interesting, not sure if the order of effects resolved correctly. I was playing Ajani against Chandra, I had a Sera Ascendant enchanted with Divine Favor, and 31 life, making the critter a 7/9 creature, and my opponent cast Chandra's Outrage. Now, the way the card reads, it does 4 damage to the critter and 2 damage to me. This killed the Sera Ascendant, I guess since it stripped the +5/+5 buff from the critter, returning it to 2/4 before doing the 4 damage. However, the way I read the card, because it lists the 4 damage first, the critter should have had 5/9 health before it lost the buff, returning it to a 2/4 critter instead of killing it. Any MtG refs care to weigh in?

But in other circumstances, where the order would matter, the Serra Ascendant's +5/+5 is known as a static ability. This comes up if you block a 1/1 Serra Ascendant controlled by someone at 29 life, say with a 5/5 creature of your own. If might surprise you that the Serra Ascendant lives and your 5/5 also lives in this interaction, because the lifelink pushes the life total to 30 and therefore the Serra's power and toughness become 6/6 in the same instant that damage is dealt and before the game checks state-based effects for death. Of course combat damage has already been dealt simultaneously, so Serra only dealt 1 damage. |

If the system was properly overhauled and reworked, I think it could be done. I don't think it would be Easy, but can you imagine the sales they'd get? |

By comparison, Playdek is home to UX maestros, and their games are better experiences than the original board and card games they are based on. As much as I want a digital reimagining of the experience behind playing Magic, I get that Wizards has a vested interest in making the game look and play exactly like playing it on the tabletop, because their goal is to get you into the physical cards. And it's too bad, too, because I can see in my mind like you how it *could* be. |
