I take my iPad with me on my train/bus commute to work and on trips, but then I carry a backpack. I can't see putting a 7" tablet in a pocket - it's still too big for that - so don't really see that as much more portable other than in weight. I'd still need my backpack. However the Nexus is cheap, and that's definitely a plus. I prefer iOS, but that's obviously a matter of opinion.

Flash is dying and should no longer be considered into what phone or tablet to purchase (IMHO) - Adobe won’t support Flash in Jelly Bean, installs end on August 15th (Yahoo News)

Personally I think that sucks flash works very well on my mobile and there is nothing that really replaces it, if anything it's much smoother than my main pc. HTML5 despite all the hype is worse in every regard and will also mean unblockable adverts everywhere and much bigger video files.

That being said it's android and the APK is out there already so it will never go away and linux has plenty of non adobe flash options which will probably make a crossover.

edit:

Ah I read up on it it's no big deal anyway Flash is being replaced with "Flash Next" which is basicly still flash and backwards compatible, adobe just wants to sell new tools to developers. Nexus 7 is going to be the first device to have it and others will no doubt follow.

Where did you read that Flash was being replaced by Flash Next? The Adobe Press release makes no mention of it:

http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2...id-update.html

It says that you will no longer be able to install Flash, however you can continue to get security updates if you already have it installed. They also recommend removing Flash if you upgrade to Jellybean.

I too had a iPod touch 4g before purchasing an iPad. I only ended up getting an iPad for testing apps and a few music tools that don't come on any other platform. I found I use it way more than I thought I would. It's nice that for the most part the interface feels similar to my iMac and touch. Get a bluetooth keyboard (i recommend zagg's) and it's like having another computer around.

It's just convenient. I supposed any tablet would do the basic stuff you mentioned though. So you probably could find a cheaper one.

It seems like from what I read the google tablet won't have an sd card interface. If they are only going to have 8 and 16 gbs, then it would make it hard for me to buy without sd card support. If this is true, it would really suck.

I hope it is not true though, because I want Microsoft and Google to force Apple to let us use sd cards for things like movies. I know I want to put movies on my new ipad, and even with 64 gbs, I got no space. I even had to cut down my music to 2 gb, when I have a lot more.

That is my main regret of my new ipad, the lack of an sd card interface. Oh and that of a lack of a wireless joystick. But other than that, I am quite happy.

You could buy a Camera Connection Kit and carry around as many movies as you can afford SD cards. Secrets of the iPad Camera Connection Kit (CNet.com) or a Seagate Goflex Satellite.

Can't remember I was reading comments on this story somewhere else and it got mentioned a few times, but as I understand it it's not a big deal the flash is just being built into the browsers instead kind of like how chrome already does it.

Wow, that was some interesting reading. Thanks for the link. So there is a hack way to store ripped dvds on an sd card with the ipad. Very interesting. Seems like a little work, but hopefully Apple will be forced to use the device like an usb drive.

Very interesting.

Flash is dying? maybe. But very slowly. Most of websites still use Flash AS OF THIS MOMENT. Your browsing experience will suck balls if you don't have flash enabled on any of your electronic hardware.

Flash is still considered bread and butter for popular user content websites such as Newgrounds.

Flash is still staying in the game and it's not gonna die any time soon.
