Am I misunderstanding the video, or does this look more like a maze game than mini golf? Are the tilt controls controlling the ball's movement AFTER the putt?

I don't think you're misunderstanding anything. I saw the video a while back, and it seems like the mini-golf premise is really just a gimmick to make this maze game different than others. Or, I suppose you could say the maze like control is a gimmick to make this mini-golf game different than the others. It would be nice if someone would actually try the game to give a first hand account. If I weren't so backed up with my current play list I'd give it a shot myself.
