I myself have a MacBook pro, iPhone, iPad and yes a monster gaming PC I built myself. I love them all and they each have their pros and cons when compared to each other. If you don't know the difference between an apple PC and a windows PC or can't see the value in an apple product then you haven't spent much time with them. I would be fine if he was one and done posting here. Ok off my soap box. Last edited by stlredbird; 07-17-2012 at 09:51 AM.. |

If anything, this thread proves that there's quite a huge demand for ARPGs on iOS.

Hawkn has a point, even if you're just too mad about his way of writing it to see it. If you check top grossing in the AppStore, you'll find most games are all about microtransactions, not pure 1 buy games like Torchlight. That in itself is proof enough of what makes the most money in this market. And TotalBiscuit is HUGE wether you like him or not. There are many people out there that are in the borderline decision, not sure wether to dive in the iOS gaming or not, and a person like TB can easily sway a group of those one way or the other. Same goes for visiting TA. Remember, you read reviews, read impressions of games before buying, they sway your buy button one way or the other, it is the same principle. But most importantly, we're getting off topic, if Runic doesnt want to go through the hassle of TL for iOS, so be it, they have their reasons and should be respected. AH should go down, rerise in a few months with a new face if they want, and try it again. I wouldnt buy anyways because they aleady have a bad rep, but I think most people would see past that. |

This thread is getting pointless. It has nothing to do with the "game" itself but arguments about the legality or morality of what the dev did. |

Unfortunately, publishers tend to think this way, they look at the charts and think "genre x is dominating the charts, let's do something similar!" And I don't blame them, this minimizes risks, but it sadly hurts creativity. |

I have to be honest. This is the first time I've ever heard of TotalBiscuit.
I'll assume he's some sort of game reviewer. |

But that didn't mean the demand for "core" games was lessened. It simply meant that a whole new audience had been brought into the gaming market. It's no different with the iOS market. Sure, the casuals outnumber the "core" gamer, but that doesn't mean there are less core gamers ready to drop cash on mobile games. It's the same for mobile gaming. Just because there's more casual gamers than core gamers does not change the fact that just about every gamer has a mobile device these days (a smart phone at the minimum). There's kind of a catch-22 stigma going on right now where the gamers don't expect much from a mobile game, so are hesitant to drop a big chunk of cash on a mobile game, therefore mobile game developers simply produce stuff they can sell for less than tank of gas. This mentality on both sides can change, and I believe eventually will. We just need the games to push it in that direction. I, for one, would gladly pay full price for Torchlight on my iPad. I'm sure I'm not the only one, either. |

Is that really "super important and mega influential"? I've seen a million times more activity on a picture of a chihuahua wearing a hat... |

The point is, TouchArcade is still a small enough site that someone telling 100k people that we're a horrible community has an effect.

Really? I think TA is a little bigger than that. Plus if anything it will point some his small following here and once they get here they'll see what it's really about and be hooked.
