Yeah, I realised my mistake, but was too slow to edit it. My bad.

In my defense though, the discussions here and there aren't very different and I don't follow either particularly closely, so meh.

Oh, I wasn't trying to criticize, just making sure he was directed to the right place.

And yeah, it's pretty much one discussion taking place across two threads, heh.

Anyone having trouble understanding why Skillmaster19 is backing EGLS so fiercely (and inanely) should refer to this post.

It does suck that Egls stole the assets but I can admit I have had fun playing this game. If it was legit I wonder what TA would have rated it.... Heheh

I dunno if I would look towards humanity's future over a copyright dispute between Runic/EGLS and possibly blizzard. We have way worse things going on in the world that shows humanity is screwed as a whole lol.

To be clear, I don't find this situation funny in any way but I did chuckle when I exited the game and received this confirmation.

It's not the particular issue at hand, but rather Skillmaster19's complete lack of critical/logical thinking and lack of emotional maturity that scares me. He's not alone, many teens these days display this kind of mentality (he informed us he was 16 in one of his posts). I don't know why there's such a difference between the critical thinking levels of today's youth versus that of just 15 years ago, but if it's any indication of the direction we're going, then I don't have much confidence in the society my children will be raising their own kids in.

And just to clarify, I'm not making sweeping generalizations of all teens, just pointing out that there seem to be way more of those who seem to have not developed decent critical thinking skills today than there were during the past couple of decades. They are still the minority, but they just seem to be growing in numbers.

Why any one would give this a second glance is beyond me. (even if it wasn't a rip off merchant app)
Because it is free to download and has the letters MMORPG associated with it. These types of games instantly attract at least a small audience. Order and Chaos Online is the only decent ios mmo currently.

Sorry but I'm going to poke my nose in here. Not being funny but I feel you really are blowing this out of all proportion. It is a copyright and plagiarism issue. Very much a first world problem, albeit a very unpleasant one for Runic. I don't think the future of society is hinged upon what happens here.

As for his critical thinking, as you said he is 16, that should answer your question right there.

And on your other point I was 16 about 15 years ago, and sure as hell I don't remember myself or anyone I knew at that age displaying any particular levels of emotional maturity or critical thinking skills. In fact I seem to remember most people thinking they knew exactly how the world works, a huge sense of entitlement and an almost pathalogical urge to argue with anyone who dared to try and put across a different view point. It was the level headed mature ones who were very much in the minority, not the other way round.

I used to be a moderator at GameFAQs, and while people rightfully bitch about the cesspool the public message boards there have become, you'd become flat-out suicidal if you saw the sheer number of racist flaming, asking for illegal ROMs, and other utter crap that gets deleted.

I am totally for free speech, but I'm even more for a site admin reserving the right to keep civility(and legality) in board conversations.
