I played it a bit but when I saw the hefty price tags on some IAP I deleted the game for fear of updating games and then immediately opening a game like this and inadvertently buying an IAP within the game
It could happen without asking for my account password so I don't take even a little chance

This is a known issue for non-native english speakers and the devs already work on a fix for it.
Until the update arrives, switch your iDevice to English as long as you play it. That works around the issue.

Are they working on the bad translation too?

He probably played 5 minutes and assumed the forced IAP. Ive been playing this game a bit and still have to hit a paywall if there's any.

I'm on Act 9 and honestly is pretty easy using the knight, bar some bosses.
The game gives you many souls and gens to upgrade one character (just one)...stick with him.

I am actually really enjoying this one. Really. On act 9 at the moment with 100% completed maps so far. All my characters upgraded to 3+ on all items.

When it comes to upgrading items beyond 3 levels using gems it becomes a hassle because the drop rate of gems is pathetic, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a pay wall. My level 11-12-13 characters with level 3 gear are holding their own against level 20-21 enemies pretty well for the most part.

The upgrading does stop after you get to level 3 equips though, and that is extremely frustrating.
