Iap's are not essential at all.
No option to manually flip the screen but on my ipad3 it's not upside down.
Dunno how it is on the iphone.

Honestly hate he Iap. Fortunately it is not a deal breaker. The game is a fun mix of old school platforming and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers style throwing mechanic. It's fun and well worth playing.

Another huge plus would be if you can go back to the left in the game!
It's impossible to get all the nuts now once they are out of the screen.
