They want you to spend spend spend which is a shame
Dont forget that games like Temple Run, Agent Dash, Subway Surfers, TheEndApp, One Epic Knight, Blood Roofs, Zombie Highway, Amazing Runner... All start you from the beginning and no waypoints on any of them.

Just because they give us checkpoints in Pitfall doesnt mean we have to activate all of them. In fact, in my point of view, this is a bonus over the other titles i've mentioned which gives you a way to start from where you have checkpoints activated. I bet if there arent any checkpoints in Pitfall, nobody would have this idea and everything will be treated like those other games i mentioned above.

The 100,000m checkpoint may look like the end-all for the game, but because of it's level randomness, in essence, this game is still an endless runner as that distance seems to be almost impossible already. Even if you have the 80,000m checkpoint activated, running 20,000m to get to the next final checkpoint still almost seems impossible to me, even with some well prepared potions.

I have no intentions of reaching the 100,000m mark as none of the achievements even require you to be over 20,000 to complete.

Everything else in the shop can be bought by ingame currency, so as far as i can tell, this isnt a money funnel compared to most other has-IAP-games out there.

Again to quote myself from up top, I bet if there arent any checkpoints in Pitfall, nobody would have this idea and everything will be treated like those other top-behind-the-back-runner-games i mentioned above. Just because The Blast Furnace and Activision added the checkpoint system people's point of view changed drastically.

The only downside i can think of, is how this affects the leaderboards. Normally, i'd be turned off by this, but my target has always been just to be in the top 5% of the leaderboards which is where im at. Rarely have I ever been on the top10 on an endless runner game, and i dont stay too long up there until some maniac surpasses my score.

Bottomline, it's still how you look at it. The to-each-his-own rule still applies.

So yeah... some like it, some dont.

Default Impressions

Hello all.

Now that Pitfall is free, I have been playing it for a few days, and I rather like this game now. Sure, it is not like the original Atari 2600 game, but it is a very fine Temple Run type of game.

Not only is the action fast-paced and frantic, the difficulty most definitely ramps up as you progress onward. This definitely deserves a download.

However, here are the negatives:

1. It is still a cash grab. Presently, my best distance from the beginning is 16,921 meters. Unfortunately, I can not lock any checkpoints beyond 8,000 points because I need to spend 30 diamonds, which takes 30 levels to achieve. So, either the developers should provide you with more diamonds each time you level, or the required if diamonds should drop considerably.

2. After spending the diamonds for a checkpoint, you should not have to use tokens to play it. You achieved it. You unlocked it. And you did already pay for it with diamonds. You should not have to pay again.

Presently, I have 23/33 patches. By far, the toughest one seems to be to get the jaguar token five times in a game. I was able to get this four times, but not five. Has anyone done this?

Thanks,

They REALLY need to make this iPhone 5 compatible. It's one of my favorite games and I can't stand playing it letterboxed.

Default Issues and Suggestions for the Update

Hello, all:

I am playing and loving the updated version of Pitfall! Presently, I have 26/32 hidden treasures. I have not yet accomplished anything beyond bronze, but I am working on it.

With that said, I have the following suggestions:

1. Jaguar Patch. I think they should lower the requirements to getting 3 Jaguar tokens in a run (instead of 5). My highest run thus far was 21,042 meters, and I was able to acquire only 3 tokens.

2. Add a tonic for slowing things down. There is a haste tonic, and honestly, the last thing you need is to speed things up. There is no advantage to this, so aside from getting the patch, there really is no use for buying these tonics. Instead, I would gladly pay for a tonic to slow things down, especially at the later stages.

3. Life tonic. As it stands, the Life button appears, and you have to press it to activate it. However, this can cause two problems. First, you may press it inadvertently. Second, by pressing it, you may lose track of where you are. Also, the idea that the invincibility lasts as long as you drink the tonic is off. What should happen is that if you press the tonic, you should be protected once when you die. again, this helps out in the later stages.

4. The Burst Tonic. Again, this is a waste, as the last thing we need is to make the Relic stages even faster. In addition, to use a tonic, you have to hold your finger on the meter to drink it, as opposed to merely pressing the button. Lastly, for the patch, you have to drink FIVE burst tonics in one run. What should happen is that you press it to activate it (like the other tonics), and lower the patch requirement to three burst tonics in one run.

Just my two cents,
