Yep, no combat.

Save and rescue (SAR) missions instead.

The fun is in controls and flying - if you have both iPad and iPhone/iPod, it fun to use play wirelessly on iPad using iPhone/iPod as a remote.

Spoiler:

Gives free upgrades in return - one upgrade for each gift.

If you start new game - restoring purchases gives you all the free upgrades in a new game.

However, IAP is not really necessary - the game is quite playable without IAP.

Bought it. I like the idea. I hope it's as great as you guys are making it seem EDIT: I've been playing a bit this last hour and I love the idea. Relaxed missions where you have to find objects/people the boss wants, but also controlling the fuel you have left, the helicopter's integrity, the height at which you fly, cargo space left and many other factors. Just great, and with random maps it means loads of replayability.

I think that the absence of a machine gun nor any kind of violence (aside from crashing the heli) is great, because it lets you concentrate in the sim factors of the game which I mentioned before. I don't regret the $1 spent on it. I hope the game sells, honestly.

Good game, really has that old school vibe and not just retro fashioned graphics. I was a bit worried about no combat but works fine without.

My only complaint would be things seem too zoomed out on a third gen iPad when compared to the screenshots, is there any way to adjust this? It kills a bit of the character.

Enjoying it though, nice work

Hey devs, some questions:

1. What are the IAP "gifts" supposed to do? Cheaper objects? A new helicopter? Maybe you could clear it out so that we can decide if we buy them or not.

2. How do you open new scenearios? I only have the 1st one unlocked (jungle, I think).

Btw: I'm enjoying the game a lot at the moment. Very zen and great for quick plays

As far as I know, a "gift" simply gives you a free upgrade. It's just something I've heard from another player though, so I'm not certain.

And as for scenarios, I'm pretty sure you unlock them once you finish the jungle. Still haven't quite got up to that point yet though.
