Hexed is a brand new take on the traditional Match-3 puzzle genre. Pieces are rotated to create matches, the screen can be rotated for different strategies and spells cast by the evil witch must be successfully negotiated.

Looks very much like Trism, but the description says the pieces are rotated, not like Trism where you slide them.

I love Trism, though, so this could be a winner if it's anything like as good.

I feel I should probably answer this one

One evening I sat down and drew up a concept for a new style of match-3 puzzle game. I played with Octogons and then Hexagons, finally coming up with a concept of rotating pieces using Hexagons.

I actually discovered Trism after commencing development on Hexed and I would like to stress that the game has taken inspiration from other previous match-3 puzzle games (eg: Bejewelled and Chuzzle).

The layout of the pieces may look like Trism (unavoidable) but you will find the gameplay is very different from Trism and any other Match-3 puzzle game out there.

Tried the lite, actually seems pretty good although hard to judge the depth from the one level the lite gives.

I must agree, though, that while screenshots look like Trism, the game mechanic is entirely different from Trism, or any other Match 3 I've played come to that.

Won't be buying the full just yet but it will be on my list to look out for any sales.

Not yet, but these are planned for future updates.
  • Timed Mode - Usually a common feature of these games, can be implemented in a short period. Adding Apple approval times, expect this in mid July.
  • New Concept Mode - This is where I sit down and come up with something different from what has been done before. I'm thinking along the lines of something similar to Puzzle Quest, you versus the Witch. Creating spells using tile matches to defend/attack the Witch. Giving the Witch a greater variety of spells... and as you reach higher levels, the Witch grows progressively stronger. Expect this at the end of August.
  • Puzzle Mode? - *scratches head* I'm referring to the game mode where you have to clear the board of all pieces. Would be nice to perhaps add new puzzles each week/update. Expect this towards to beginning of August.

I will also be tweaking the UI, without changing the current gameplay of the standard mode.
