LordGek's comments:
Funkitron, the makers of Slingo and Solitaire Kingdom, take their Funki System of gradually unlocked power-ups via achievements and milestones to the word game world!

Easily among the BEST of the words games on iOS (at least IMHO)!

While this is an iPad only release, an iPhone version is well into development and hopefully will drop soon as well.

This is excellent just like their other games. The coins really add some fun to spelling words.

Thanks for the recommendation, LordGek. Even though the game play is pretty typical word game stuff, the bonuses and the busy presentation makes things fresh. I also love daily challenges,

I might have to try their Solitaire game as well.

Wow, that's the first time I've been quick enough to claim a code on here. Thanks so much! I don't have my iPad with me right now, but I'll play Word Bird and leave a review tonight.

Thanks again!

I hear you, the core tracing over letters to spell words has been done to death but I personally love how Funkitron applies their seemingly patented system to the old genre with their perk/power-up/create your own game mode system to this game just as they had to Slingo and Solitaire Kingdom. Even cooler is how they track your scores and records in this game a million different ways. I mean you can see the standard best daily and all-time records in this game (who doesn't do that?), but they also get into tracking your best performance with any exact combination of power-ups in the game so far. So, essentially, the game can track your best stats in any of the thousands of power-up combinations you might dream up. It really is the equivalent to being able to create your own mode in most other games!

Got it, thanks a big bunch!

And I'll agree with Lord Gek (about Slingo and Kingdom Solitaire) about the excellent stat-tracking and the daily challenges are great! Still love Slingo to pieces, even picked it up for my Kindle Touch (although that version is missing time bonuses and powerups, it's pretty basic. Our 3yo daughter has a lot of fun with it though!)
