Michael Winter's comments:
Hi there,

My name is Michael Winter. I'm an iOS developer from Berlin, Germany.

After having spent many years in the gaming industry as a software engineer and game designer I finally made up my mind to bring my own gaming ideas to life. After several months of hard work I can proudly announce my first offering to the iPhone/iPod community: Letter Mania!

The game is all about offering casual gamers a great opportunity to have some five or ten minutes of quick fun. Playing the game is very easy. Just tap letters and form words. Long words score way more points than short ones. Single colored words also give you a nice bonus. New letters can either be dragged down by the user or they come down on their own with ever increasing speed. So whatever you do, you better be quick.

There is also a free version of the game called Letter Mania Free. It has the same features as the paid version but contains ads.

Having just finished my debut game I am really looking forward to any kind of feedback. So if anyone wants to give it a try I would be thrilled to hear what you have to say.

You've got some nice ideas here--like the word that's all one color of letter being worth more points.

I think the easiest thing you could do to increase fun would be allowing the user to swipe over the letters to spell the world. That's inherently more fun than individually tapping letters then tapping the green checkmark button way up at the top of the screen (although you will need to keep that as an option too).

I think there's enough Boggle (and Boggle clone) players out there that are accustomed to swiping over the grid of letters to enter words that you will have a lot to overcome without that. I say that as a big time Boggle fan myself.

Good luck.

Like word games?

Watch a video of my new iPhone game Word Safe on YouTube here or get it from the App Store for free here. Follow me on Twitter, @WordSafeApp, I usually follow back.

Well, I just did what you suggested. I also added a multiplier and revamped graphics. Rows now come down way faster, too. The maximum word length has been reduced to 8. The game has become a whole lot better, at least in my opinion. Just give it a try, you may like it!
