After watchingthe video I have to admit this looks like one of the best Platformers I've seen on IOS... Let's hope that holds true

Glad to hear, can't wait to play it... It's platforming right? Not moving screen...

It's similar to how Polara and Wind-up Knight and Cheeseman work. Your character is always running and you can roll or jump to avoid the obstacles and/or collect stars.

Competent, but a bit dull and doesn't really distinguish itself in any major way. Awfully pedantic with regard to what it tasks you with doing, when, and how. Any error promptly sends you back to the level's start. (But not as promptly as would have been ideal.) Frankly, after a few minutes I just could no longer be bothered.

Good god.. Wind-up Knight has me sold. I could not put that game down for anything. If this is title is in a similar vein as that one, I am instantly on board.

No, it's awesome. It's definitely in a similar vein to SMB and Choco Run in that it gets fairly demanding with the accuracy, but that's what we need more of in the App Store; games that require skill and reflexes.
Looks great on newer iPads with full retina support and runs at a solid pace (I'm guessing 60 FPS since the options wouldn't even let me change it). Reloading a level after death takes about 3 seconds on my iPad, most of that time being down to the death animation. If you ask me, this is better than pretty much every single free-to-play runner on iOS. To be honest, I wouldn't even group it together with those games, Gear Jack feels like it ought to sit on a higher, more lovingly maintained shelf. |
