Uhm... why does this have 7 one-star TA user ratings?

Because Mumbo Jumbo sued the maker of Stoneloops (a similar game) and had it removed from the app store. Long story, most TA members then took Stoneloops' (which they felt was a better game) side and felt MJ just wanted to smash the competition. Luxor went free before and everyone downloaded it so they could kill its ratings. Check the old Stoneloops thread for the story.

Also probably due to the giant ads that bombard you after every level.

MumboJumbo goes around suing everyone with a similar game. They pushed StoneLoops off the app store and also sued Popcap about the Zuma games. Popcap eventually won (I believe) it's battle with MumboJumbo but I don't think StoneLoops ever made it back to the App Store.

How do people compare this to Zuma and other clones like Sparkle? I used to have another clone, something like Atlantis, on my iPhone but deleted it awhile back. I'll probably pick up Luxor but don't feel like this is a company I want to support.

I forgot they did that to PopCap too.
