Lars! Super Action Danger Lizard
Over 60 Levels of platform action with plenty of pickups, unlockables, and Mario-physics. Future expansion packs on the way as well. Last edited by deadweight; 06-21-2011 at 09:41 AM.. Reason: Updating title to reflect update. |

Looks great. Reminds me of "frogatto". I'll probably take the risk since I'm a fan of platform games. Hope I don't regret it.

A loving homage to the 8 bit era, but also a fun and content-packed platformer on it's own right. Controls are good, the physics are appropriately Mario like, and the level design is actually very well done (even in the tutorial there are some cool challenges). Hit detection is a bit loose for my taste, but nothing too frustrating. As package it doesn't quite reach the heights of Pizza Boy, but Lars is much, much, much longer. For .99 it's a must have for platformer and retro fans.

Here's some gameplay video from the iPhone version. We spent a lot of time tweaking the controls and physics so it felt as close to our old favorite platformers possible.

Why did I miss it on app shopper!!??
Downloading now .... And looking forward for the update in January! And please add auto rotate. The controls fight with the headphone jack! Did I say it is a nice one?? |

POST MOVED FROM IPAD THREAD...
Just picked this up... and after getting Super 8-Bit Santa, Bunny In Island, Archaic Town Adventures, Juz: Guitar Picks... This was a VERY refreshing grab. I love the level design, and the way the movement button works (walk slower if holding towards the middle, walk faster the further you move your thumb from the middle area...)... Being able to change direction in mid-air after a jump is a GREAT addition as well, which you did a VERY good job of executing. Most of the platformers I've played recently (with the exception of Hooga) are almost impossible to control your mid-air character. I can't wait to get further into this game! Some of the level maps look like they get bigger and better... and to anyone else that gets this game... those things on the ground that look like green spikes... are not spikes, but grass (I think...) - anyway, they cause no damage when landing on or walking through them... which I didn't find out until the 3rd stage, and that was by accident... =oP totally gonna recommend this game to all my other platform loving friends! forgot to mention the SLIGHT Metroid aspect... to get all the little extras, and bypass some areas in order to finish a stage, you need to pass up an area, go further in the stage, find a key, and take it back to the area that's closed off... - I'm a sucker for backtracking when it comes to video games... ^^also pretty much what I wrote in my app store review. =oD I've been playing this all day, and can not believe how long it takes to beat some of the levels... especially with all the backtracking... it almost feels like there should be some checkpoints, but everytime I think it'd be a good place for one, I'm like, 3 platforms from the exit. =oP |

Is this better than the recent retro adventure? Looks similar.

YES! Not far off... but it controls better, looks better, plays better, the levels are larger... You're better off getting this than Retro Adventure. ---a platformer FANATIC. =o) |
