App description: Be more than just a Samurai!

Take on the role of a rnin, a samurai who has been disowned by his master, as you make your way through a fantasy Japanese land, encountering bandits, archers, samurais and other ykai as you go.
Help the people you meet to accomplish their missions and collect as many wisps as you can in order to make use of the powers that lie dormant within you.

Are you ready to face over 100 different waves of enemies at breakneck speed?

Rnin has been designed to be as much fun as possible from the outset. Whether you are a die-hard gamer or just play occasionally, you are sure to face your enemies with the same enthusiasm.
You can dodge, jump and attack with a simple finger movement, meaning you instantly get the hang of the game.

Collect wisps, the energy needed to develop and use your powers. Thanks to your experience and your reflexes, you will soon be beating your own scores and those of your friends!
But don't be fooled: Rnin provides a real challenge for perseverant players.

No pay-to-win or virtual money involved: all players start on equal footing so that everyone can progress at their own rate.

A few stats:

- Over 100 different waves of enemies that appear at random.
- Unlock the 9 destructive skills that have a great impact on the outcome of each stage.
- Make your way through the 5 lands, each with a different enchanting atmosphere.
- Secondary missions that improve your score are hidden in each stage.
- 5 tunes provide the soundtrack to your adventure.

The review talks about the controls and hit detection being imprecise which I have to disagree with.

Very true. They mostly lost me after the minigore 2 review. :/ This though was the last straw.

XD I remember in the TA plays video, Brad seemed to like it a lot... That was AFTER the review was made. I guess Brad's opinion was different? Lol

Read the review and it actually made me interested (though I don't really like runners). Bought.

Remember that this is Erics review NOT everyone that works there. Anyway it's just his opinion and three-stars isnt terrible. I tend to disagree with a lot of the things in his review, but that's just me.

PS a while back I mentioned that I didn't think the icon was great but since changed my mind. Its grown on me.

Did you guys realize that when you swipe you actually do two hits? One pulling the sword out and one on the way back. You can use this to kill two enemies with one swipe if you're close enough. Also on the way down if you swipe right before you hit the ground you get two strikes, one in the air and one right when you hit the ground. I'm assuming this is intentional.
Also it seems that you're somewhat invincible on the way down from a jump. Is this also intentional? I'm referring to the archers attack.

Next release

Hey there!

Sorry we were quite busy last days.

Toucharcade reviewed Rōnin and marked 3/5... t's not a bad mark but we hoped 4 at least. We've read the review carefully and took notes for the next release and our future games. We're a young studio It's a good thing for us to have reviews and assessments (good or bad).

What about next release ? It included a new art style. And many others cool stuff! It's coming soon...

Just read the TA review... and it's pretty clear that the reviewer didn't 'get it'. Damn shame too, because if people actually read the review instead of just looking at the 3 stars and passing, chances are they're going to get the wrong impression from it.

I almost feel like I need to apologize just for being a part of the community on the site that wrote that review...

Personally I'd take Void's review (on page 18 of this thread) every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Much more in line with my view of the game.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:42 AM.
