Recently, I came across a new physics game – “Partity” which pretty much caught my attention. I wasn’t able to find any review of this game, probably because it was released only a week ago, so I decided to write the first one.
You don’t get much information about it from the description in the app store, so at first, I didn’t really know what it was going to be. The main idea is to get the game element – a particle – from the beginning of the level to a portal at the end. To control the particle, you create forces by touching the screen, which pull the particle towards it. I will describe the handling a little more, later. There are six sets of levels in the game which I had to unlock by collecting quarks in the levels.
Controlling the particle may seem a little tricky for a beginner. It took me some time to realize that the strength of the force pulling the particle is lower when I touch the screen further from the particle and therefore it is enormously big when I touch right next to the particle. What the developers also didn’t mention in the tutorials is that you can combine 2 or more forces at a time, to control the particle more precisely.
This is what really caught my eye when I first run the app. The whole game seems to run very smoothly all the time without any lags, and in my opinion, the graphic design of this game is a big part of what it makes noteworthy.
The sound in “Partity” is pretty simple. It consists of only one background music loop which goes along throughout the whole game. There is an option to turn the music off, but when playing, I didn’t pay attention to it so much, and I guess it helped me calm a little when I was playing some pretty annoying levels, so I didn’t even think of turning it off.
“Partity” is definitely one of the most unique physics games I’ve played on iPhone and I hope the developers won’t stop further development of this concept. In my opinion, it is perfect for people who like being challenged and, like me, are often being bored on a bus while going to work. The price is fairly low compared with how many hours of fun it offers, so my overall rating: 4.5/5.
