I hope this is better than Kairosofts recent entries.

There doesn't seem to be any IAPs, that's a good start.

Can someone tell if this contains new gameplay mechanics besides what we get in Game Dev Story and Anime Studio?
Because I'd probably pass on 'just a third reskin'.

As a positive note, after a couple of years with 2 or 3 releases, these guys are pumping out games at almost one a week the last months.

It just saddens me that most of their best ideas seem to be saved for freemium lately.

Want to play a pirate captain, sail the world, recruit a team of adventurers and conquer islands with RPG mechanics? How about flying and upgrading aircraft in simulated battles? Or fighting mechs and freaking Godzillas?! Only if you're willing to get stuck with soul sucking ads, mandatory online, premium currencies and an app riddled with spyware!

Meanwhile, they started raising the price on their commercial apps for Lemonade Stand Story 2. You mean I can bake cupcakes _or_ krispie squares?! That's much cooler than PIRATES and FIGHTER JETS.

I love Kairosoft and have never bemoaned the slow progression and loose experimentation around a single formula. I've bought nearly their entire IOS library to support them being one of the few commercial devs around. But it's really grating to see them putting so much more effort into 'free' games.

The interface is pretty different from the older games--even more modernized than the last couple.

There's also an interesting mechanic where you need to constantly be balancing work with non-work activities to generate plot points (inspiration), as well as mechanics around committing to creating content for ongoing series and meeting publisher requests and deadlines in general.

I admit I haven't played enough Anime to know if some of that is there but this does seem pretty different than Magazine or Game, and different from what I saw of Anime. That one basic "four categories pump up over a session" mechanic is there but the framing is quite different.

I play lots of games, especially async ones. You can add me on GC: geoelectric

I have played every Kairosoft game so far (haha, would like to know how many 100s of hours I have put into their games)... I really love this one!! After many misses (Superhero-free2play-from-hell?! brrrr...) this is finally an addictive game. Not much new in it, apart from the energy managment vs Plot Points, but a lot of fun.

Did any of the other games have ongoing deadline management? I know there were the contracts in various of them, but I don't remember anything like keeping backup comics in the can in case a publisher rang.
