Default What other platforms do you develop for?

We have just ported our debut title (Magnetix) to Google Play, Blackberry and the Amazon stores and are awaiting the results. Just wondering what other platforms people are developing for. Do you look to the iTunes store as your primary target? Or do you always develop titles with the idea of porting them to other platforms? And as a secondary question, if you have ported to other platforms, what has your success rate been?

We develop titles with the idea of releasing them on multiple platforms from the beginning. We usually set the target resolution for all graphics to be for iOS though, and scale on Android since there's so many different resolutions there.

We've ported to Google Play, Amazon and Nook. For sales, Amazon for us has been as good as Google Play, and Nook was about half of that. If its easy for you, I recommend submitting to the Amazon & Nook stores too as they don't have as many apps so it's easier to get noticed and promoted there.

We'll look into the Nook but the main difficulty is getting hold of a testing device. We have friends who have tons of devices however the Nook has been one we haven't been able to get hold of. Any advice on promoting games via the Amazon app store? We have launched there but are yet to get much interest, however Blackberry Playbook has been better than expected.

Ah, yes, I had to purchase a Nook Color on eBay And its a slow device now, so demanding games can have problems running with high FPS there.

Unfortunately I don't have much advice on how to get promoted on Amazon. However Amazon has been active in adding a couple of our games in their Free App of the Day, which will result in a nice sales boost after the free day is over, and more user reviews which can help get more sales in the long run. But Amazon chooses their Free App of the Day candidates manually so you just have to wait and see...

Our game isn't particularly heavy on graphics/processes so that helps when porting. We have it running on the Blackberry Playbook which is pretty slow so that's a good sign. We have heard about the Free App of the Day thing which we're hoping to get into but as you said, we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah we found that porting to the Playbook was very simple too. We use Adobe AIR so the actual testing and porting only took about 3 hours max. It was more about graphics scaling than anything else
