walmart selling 99$ iphones?

is this still a rumor or have they started this already? also is it going to be the 1gen or 3g? I hear its with a 2 year contract also.

it's a rumor, and it would be 3G presumably.

Its like the rumor I heard in class that Woolworths were having a 70% off everything sale. Exciting to think about but totally bogus

I think it's at least plausible--a 3G, but reduced to 4GB. Which is plenty for a lot of music and apps, and even some video.

Still a rumor.... but all the big holiday shopping started last week, so I don't buy this for a second.

However, I can see an arrangement where current sales outlets get the holiday season without interference from Wal-Mart, and then Wal-Mart is allowed to sell the iPhone only after the holidays, as a way to keep sales ongoing.
