Worth grabbing on sale, or otherwise? I'm tempted, but if anyone has opinions, please do share.

I've never played it because I have a 4th gen iPod touch, which isn't supported

Just know that it's a brawler, like a glorified Double Dragon, and it's a great game.

Since the controls update, the game change from good to great.

Get if for a buck, it's definitely worth it.

Grinding in bonus levels nets ya enough to avoid IAPs. Just focus on the gear set you want.
I recommend predator bonus mission 2.

Havent finished the game yet, but i can say that IAP is only for the impatient.

Almost everything to buy requires you to play the game to unlock it first before you can buy them, so buying IAP isnt gonna help you get it any faster. Sure you wont be able to buy everything without grinding, but you can definitely finish the game without IAPs.

Without IAPs, you can buy what you need to finish the game. IAP is there if you want to get everything ASAP, which you can eventually even without buying IAPs.

Get it while you can; I still think it's a fantastic , albeit short movie experience, at least from predator side who has access to all cool stuff.
