wacky performance issues on 3GS

3GS has been touted for being much more powerful than older idevices, and in fact several of my games can run at much higher framerates on my brother's new 3GS compared to my ipod.

However, that being said, I'm seeing poor performance with one of my newer (unreleased) titles. I'm still tracking down the root cause, and wanted to know if any other developers have experienced this sort of thing?

I read at devforums.apple.com some time ago that it seams that 3.1 seams to have fixed most of the performance issues with OpenGL ES 1.1 on the 3GS.

So with the 3.1 release it will probably run smoother

I wish my 2nd gen could run that well. At this point, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to 3.0. Will it improve anything? Is it a good idea to go 3.0?

Recent purchases: Pac man CE, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Mecho Wars, and Chaos Rings.
Upcoming Games I plan to get: Splinter Cell, GoF2
