App description: Blip 1977 is an accurate recreation of the 1977 electronic and mechanical toy. It can be single player or multi-player. Blip was at the time a simulation of tennis,ping-pong and the early Pong video game made by Atari. You can play against the "computer" or two opponents can play each other. Blip was a "must have" holiday gift for the 1977 as mentioned in Wikipedia.

This game has a slight modification to give you three speeds from very easy to very hard.
Screenshots show actual app in action and original artwork based on the original packaging.
To play:
Choose 1 or 2 players.
If you choose 1 player then start serving on the left side.
Ball is returned automatically by the computer.
Choose numbers 1-3 to catch the ball in time, making sure numbered button is held while ball lands, and it will return.
If you fail you serve again, awarding a point to the opponent.
If you choose 2 players then wherever the ball is the player serves first.
The player to reach 10 first is the winner or whoever has the highest score when the timer ends and the bell rings.
To reset score counters, touch any counter.
To reset the timer, touch the timer.
Changing player mode will reset everything.

"Blip is the TV type game that you can take anywhere. It's player against player when you BLIP it with a friend. Or player versus machine is you play against BLIP itself.
Activate the mechanical power source by winding BLIP's timer.
Now, press the serve button and watch the light emitting diode (L.E.D.) come at you. But don't watch it too long. To win, you hand must be quicker than the BLIP. quickly press one of the numbered BLIP buttons to send the L.E.D. back where it came from. If your opponent misses, it's score one for you on the automatic digital scoreboard.
Take BLIP anywhere, On boats, trains, cars, rocketships and planes.
When you play with BLIP you get carried away. And so does BLIP.
Requires 2 "AA" batteries, not included".

Of course this doesn't really require batteries.
Enjoy the nostalgia!

this is beautiful, as well as all of the dev's other releases. In my early 40s, so these games are a giant burst of nostalgia. Well done!! Would like to see some Tomy games maybe?? :-)

I found this video of the original Blip on youtube. Look how big that sucker was!

I ended up purchasing several of this dev's apps. His little music apps/toys are pretty fun too. . . I'm looking forward to more stuff from this guy.

Must admit this wasnt my favourite game by this dev, i do like it but just prefer the others. My favourite so far is Astro Wars (LOVE it on iCade) and his recent Frogger game (Frogger Top)

Hope he continues to keep making these tabletop games, true retro heaven
