Ninja Striker! by Rogue Ninja -> Free

Their other game, Rogue Ninja, is also still on sale for $0.99.

Now Universal as well.

I got this sometime in the past... I don't think I played it or I didn't think much of it at the time. Anyway, re-downloaded it this morning and gave it a try and it's a pretty solid action platformer game. It's touch where you want to move or target kind of controls, but this works very well. I played through the first boss and it had a sort of classic megaman feel to it. Definitely a recommend. No ads. IAP is for consumable gold which you use ingame for items, however using items disqualifies you from the "no item" leaderboard and I think you earn enough gold in game that it doesn't matter much anyway. Y'all know my stance on IAP, if this was in anyway bad I'd throw a red card on this, but it's fine.

It was free at launch but was $0.99 for the last 3 months. It had an update release at the same time as the price drop to free which most notably seems to have added iPad support and least notably changed the name.

Fun little game. Controls take some getting used to and seem a bit random in terms of how long and high you can go. As a result, I'm dying quite a bit but hopefully will get better.

Very recommended! Thanks.

Seems to be pretty easy at the beginning BUT wait for the first boss in his arena! I needed 10+ attempts to accomplish that level. Hard to describe. Just watch the red bar (boss' health) and you'll see when you are doing something right. Good: Quick restart.

Get the rhythm how he throws the things. Dodge/avoid when he throws and then immediately attack for a short time. Hide again.

Love it when the game plays from alone for a while (arrow signs). You have a short pause but don't miss when it stops! Ninja warrior on speed. Interesting: "No Item" highscore lists.

I've played this quite a bit today. It's not random. You seem to stay afloat as long as you are target attacking an enemy. Don't just tap near an enemy, tap the enemy. When over pits, land on the ceiling. When near enemies that fire/attack, avoid the attack by going somewhere else the tap the enemy. The game has a great flow and it has some old school difficulty which is refreshing.

I'm kind of surprised how good this little game is. It's very much like mega man of old.

A little more more on the controls. Seems you get two taps in the air. If one of them isn't targeting an enemy or platform/ceiling for a landing then you'll fall to the ground. So decisions on the first jump can make a big deal on the second. Sometimes it's better to jump to a platform or just a little ahead to the ground rather than just aiming for the edge of the screen and hoping you can target an enemy or land on a platform instead of falling down a pit. I guess a good way to think of it is how traditional platformers have a double jump... except in this targeting an enemy/platform will result in reset the double jump so you can do it again. The trick is to pretty much always aim for something.

This game is just exceptional IMO in every regard. It's such a shame this few so far under the radar.
