This Is Not a Test is an apocalyptic graphic novel gamebook that pits your survival skills against the mayhem of doomsday as a strange death gas threatens humanity. Like a Choose Your Own Adventure, each panel of this RPG gamebook poses you choices that move the story forward. Create your fate by choosing your own path through the doomsday simulation -- the choices you make will unlock new paths in your quest for survival -- that is, if they dont leave you dead in the chemical wasteland. Your selection of skills, the items you scavenge, and the survivors you bring will unlock possibilities and set you racing to survive the apocalyptic doomsday mayhem!

The base version of the game contains the original black and white background art, a gruelling life regeneration timer, and banner ads. The pro upgrade removes timers, banners, and unlocks color background art for every single panel of the story.

"A lot of unique flavor from the get-go"
-TouchArcade

"The writing in This Is Not A Test stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the art."
-TouchArcade

A gamebook by definition, This Is Not a Test mixes RPG elements with a Choose Your Own Adventure styled graphic novel. Choosing skills, scavenging items, and bringing companions will affect your quest for survival. All scenes and all of the user-interface is hand-illustrated by amazing comic artist Jeff Edwards, in a gritty, apocalyptic style. The writing is blunt, pulpy, and cruel, hurling you into the skin of a victim racing for survival in the mayhem of the final moments of humanity. As a gamebook, it is shorter and punchier than its long-winded rivals, with a focus on the amazing art. As graphic novel RPG, its mechanics are streamlined, and wont have you drowning in numbers. As a survival game, it pushes you ruthlessly toward your eventual demise in the death gas unless you do something about it.

Explosions are heard in the distant skies and a terrible death gas looms over the population. An emergency broadcast announces a MANDATORY EVACUATION to the mountain shelter of Fort Eisenhower. Doomsday is at hand! Mayhem is immanent! The way is treacherous, and the quest for survival will be difficult. What will you do?

Survival Tip - Your Decisions Decide Your FateYour actions in this survival gamebook will unlock choices in your quest for survival amidst the death gas. This is Not A Test is a complex puzzle with a maze of different outcomes, like a Choose Your Own Adventure graphic novel.

The phrase "Post-Apocalyptic Prequel" is confusing; I take it to mean that the world is going to end... but your game is the events leading up to it's eventual demise. However, it could just as well reference another game or more material this is heralds.

Yeah... Post-Apocalytic Prequel does mean what it says (although a little more cryptic that usual) but i think they couldve worded it better. I dont think these are much better, but i think they'd sound a bit more picturesque... Dawn of the Apocalypse or, When The End Began, or something like that... :P

Unless that isnt what it's supposed to mean

And yeah, i've been looking forward to this game. Hope it comes out real soon! Cheers!

Actually, we carefully chose the wording to mean both things

Also, the writer side of me likes the alliteration and rhythm. And I'm a big fan of ambiguity. Heart of Darkness is what really turned me on to lit.

Makes a lot of sense if you put it that way. Good luck to the game's release!

I for one, am certainly going to get it.
