Alright so here are my early impressions.

This is a strategic American football game just as the name says. Not to be confused with a more action type "Madden" football game. There are no licenses featured in this game but has every NFL team represented by the city and their uniform colors. Each team has fairly accurate numbers representing the skill of the offensive or defensive units and individual players.

Game play: After you pick a team to play as, you choose what play to execute. Whether on offense or defense, you control what play to execute before the snap, similar to Madden. The wonderful difference in this game is the control and ability to pick exactly how you want to execute the play. Keep in mind though that after you choose what play to run, the game plays it out for you; so no spin moves or boost button for you.

Say you're on defense. You can pick your formation (4-3, nickel 4-2-5, prevent 3-2-6, etc) along with the coverage you want (man to man or zone coverage). You can also choose how you want your defensive line to line up and how they attack. Maybe you want them shifted outside, or tight, or run a stunt, you have this flexibility.

After you pick your defensive play, you have the option to blitz as well. So you can pick a 4-3 formation, running man to man coverage, focusing on the run or pass, eyeing their QB/HB, and blitzing your middle linebacker (MLB).

Also at the bottom of the screen it tells you what the plays and menus mean and what it's effective against. There's even an "assistant coach" that can help you pick plays.

So far I'm really digging it. But I am a football fan AND a strategy fan (football is full of strategy) so I'm probably the perfect user. I also see this game helping people learn about football and play calling.

So I'd recommend this game to anyone who wants to get their hands dirty running their own football team as a Head Coach or anyone who want to learn more about X and O's. There are a few different game types like season play, scrimmages for short burst plays and I believe there's even multiplayer but I'll have to go back and confirm this.

Loving this. It's superb picking your formations and plays.

So glad this came out!

Going to start a full season shortly. My ideal game would be this but a franchise mode and also you act as the gm signing players etc. Enjoying this the way it is though. A great game

Default Thanks, everyone!

Hey, I want to thank you guys for the kind words and for buying the app. I do hope to see this game grow and grow - including making it a Universal app, adding audibles (single player or pass-and-play), and a franchise mode. Oh, and I may add the ability to set a "Game Level" when creating matchups, so people can ease in to the game.

I work on it part-time, but I work on it most nights, and I'm listening to people like you guys - thanks for the feedback!

I hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions on it. Thanks again!

Would love to have access to player ratings per team to develop strategies for each match. I keep thinking about the offense and defensive coordinator on the sidelines calling plays from the strategy they developed the week before watching game tapes and scouting reports.

Still new to the game but please let me know how I can view player ratings in the game?

Good question (and a good idea for a video!). Tap the Coach button on the button bar, then on the popup, tap on the "Scouting Reports" button. On the Scouting screen, select either team on the bottom, and select categories above (or swipe left and right).

On offense, if you're in the Expanded view, you can see some partial information on the middle section, and there's specific player information on the player section. I hope this helps!

Thanks! I just saw the scouting page. Are the ratings up to 10 with 10 being the best? Also am I able to access the same information while in a game?

I still wonder if having access to this in an excel or pdf by team would be helpful as opposed to having to go to multiple in game menus?

Just a thought...?
