The resources are the same (credits and energy), but the scale of gathering them has changed a lot, more emphasis is placed on Spec Mines now, and going to Tech 2 and 3 doesn't ramp up nearly as much in credits, which will hopefully lead to more interesting battles and play as Spec Mines are more important.
I'm glad you're liking the UI, the iPad still has a lot of room left and I'm considering adding more buttons, such as: create another unit, bookmark places on the landscape, quickly chat sayings, etc. I'm waiting to see what players want.

The UI is greatly improved too! I can't stress now much easier it is to see critical information and have units/buildings do stuff with less taps. I don't like this static-y filter that unit voices have now, though.
It's still super easy to build up your economy (which was half the fun from games like AoE) but I guess that allows you to focus more on the combat.
This evening I'll sit down with it for a bit longer and give more detailed imps. Also can't wait to whoop everyone online!
