App description: En Passant is a light, clean and quite delightful chess game specifically designed to feel right at home on your gorgeous device. It offers a unique analyze mode, chess notations, themes, mood sharing, friendly sounds and stylish design.

The most recent release of En Passant introduces many great enhancements, improving what was already a very handsome chess game. If you are looking for a chess game that both looks and sounds great while matching the light and clean style of iOS 7 - then this game might be exactly what you are looking for.

Play chess against your friends using Game Center or play locally using the same device! En Passant brings you chess in a clean and attractive way.

> Designed for iOS 7
En Passant now supports Game Center reminders for all devices running iOS 7 and newer (while staying compatible with iOS 6.1). Each chess piece has been tweaked and perfected for each screen size and resolution.

> iCloud syncing of prefs
Your game preferences for using Game Center and sleep timer is now synced between devices.

> Scoreboard
Now you can keep track of the number of games won, lost or tied against your friends. These tallies can be reset or hidden whenever you want or need. To sync the scoreboard between your devices, you'll need to setup iCloud.

> Delight in the details!
Examine the board from the menu, swipe to see all captured pieces, quickly review the previous movements of your opponent. Small details like these make En Passant a joy to use.

> Analyze all positions!
What would be the consequence of moving my queen? Analyze all the different possibilities before submitting your move. Analyzing the board will save you from making painful blunders.

By buying the pro features you can enjoy even more chess-fun:

> Share your mood when submitting your move.

> Navigate your chess game via full chess notation

> Have more than two simultaneous games running

> Pick your favorite color theme; four are available, one made for dark environments.

Hi all,

A year ago I was playing chess with my friends and I got frustrated by the quality of those games. So I decided to try to do it better. Now my project has finally launched on the App Store. My goal was to create a multiplayer chess game with taste.

So far the number of downloads haven't been so high, do you guys have any tips on marketing?

Try it out; it's free on the App Store.

No I didn't contact chess blogs yet, I tried to get reviews of general game blogs, but I didn't succeed. Will definitely try that thanks!

Very well done Hans! Love it.

I have already emailed some suggestions for the game itself; regarding marketing - you know this, it's all about eyeballs:

So why not implement high scores lists and achievements? By doing that at least it becomes easy to rate your game and people can compete a bit more aggressively. It is possible to integrate those things tastefully.

Letterpress did a clever thing for sharing games: made a html5 based game player online, making tweeting games pretty damn cool. You could do the same. And at the same time, allow sharing the moves list in the PGN format.

Additionally, my opponent have problems with the thin lines used for the pieces. Maybe having current and a filled set would improve the mass appeal? I don't have a problem, but my buddy wouldn't have purchased the game without me pressuring him.

Wow, this looks beautiful, my 8 year old has just joined a chess club and we have tried many apps to help her learn but they have all either had a way too difficult AI or have had too many heels and whistles that took away from gameplay, this looks to be exactly what we need, I'm dloading now.

This looks nice, but surely the King/Queen graphics are the wrong way around? Was very confusing at first, and I could only assume the game didn't know how to set the board up properly, which is hardly a great first impression.

This is actually pretty good I have to say. The design and interface is nice. Honestly I think you should cut down the purchase to 99 cents. $3 is a lot to ask for most people seeing how the price is high but they all think it's just another chess game when they could by some big action game for $3 on ios. I think just making it cheaper so everyone can pick up and play it would make it more popular. Just my opinion however.
