Unbalanced Press Release

Unbalanced Press Release
Posted by Jacob Williams
CEDARTOWN,GA
30th July 2009.

2Real Media is pleased to announce the launch of their first iPhone/iPod game, Unbalanced.
It is available at the iTunes Appstore (http://linktoapp.com/unbalanced) and can be previewed at http://www.2realgames.com.

Tilt the handset to rotate the platform to the left or the right, while balancing a continuous stream of falling blocks. If the blocks begin to stack too high, swipe your finger down to rain fire and destroy the blocks! Score by keeping blocks from falling as long as you can the longer you last, the number of blocks that are allowed to fall increase! Great for casual gamers challenging but quick to learn and fun to play.

It looks a lot like a less polished and stylized version of Plank... congratulations on your launch, though!

Okay, TOFTT. The game is alright. You basically tilt the device to keep the platform balanced as blocks fall from the sky. You have a certain number that can fall off of the platform afterwhich, you lose. If things get too stacked or unbalanced, you can drop a fire block by swiping your finger down to burn off the blocks it comes in contact with.

There is no sound at all. It would be nice to at least bring in your iTunes music. There are local high scores, but I couldn't find a way to save my score with a unique name, it just logs it with player.

The graphics are exactly what you see in the screen shots. It uses the Unity engine for physics so blocks react as you would expect which is nice.

I'll probably play this every now again in short bursts, it got pretty repetetive after a while. Also, they need to fix the game to not autolock. You really don't have to touch the screen and I would have to tap the screen when it dimmed.

Maybe they could enhance the game with sound effects and music in an update. Also, they could maybe enhance it with different play
modes like get x number of blocks or survive for x number of seconds.

Overall, it's okay but hard for me to absolutely recommend.

I haven't played the game, but you need to adjust that yourself in the settings for your iDevice

We are currently working on an update that allows iPod Music playback and a keyboard to enter your name for the scoreboard. For those of you that have played, what else would you like to see added to the game?

For those of you reluctant to try it out, here are a few promo codes!

As always, either here or on our website, we would love to hear your feedback.

Played some more today. How about some different block sizes and weights. Have your standard size blocks and maybe some medium and huge blocks that are heavier that would really affect the board balance. Another thought would be to be able to slide the board across the bottom and maybe include different board sizes so you could have smaller boards to move and balance while catching the blocks.

Exploding blocks would be cool just because explosions and physics engines are good together! 
