I love this! As a homeschooling mom to four very active kids, I am always on the lookout for activities that will keep them engaged and interested while providing solid educational content. This one is definitely on my list. For others out there who are either homeschooling or supplementing school work with at-home learning, here are a few tips

1. A variety of presentations keep things fun! A little bookwork, some hands-on, and an electronic resource can work together to keep material feeling fresh.

2. If there are electronic resources, do they feel like games to the user? Kids prefer to have fun (who doesn't?), so games are a great approach to content presentation.

3. Are there inherent rewards beyond the material mastery? Lids love to know they've done well. We may have moved beyond working for the gold star sticker on our paper, but electronic trophies, sticker collections, and rankings can really help little ones stay excited about their accomplishments.

4. When it comes to teaching reading, don't forget the phonics! For a great resource on the use of phonics for reading success, check out the following: http://readingmadeeasy.org/learn-practice-read/
